deep sea mer being like sperm whales in that they dive down into the depths of the deep seas and hunt colossal squids. them having scars from the many underwater battles they’ve had with the squids and the other creatures of the deep.

them also being a huge as sperm whales compared to their surface/shallow water counterparts (surface mer). them sleeping vertically like sperm whales.

deep sea mer communicating with each other by humming and singing like whales.

dragons being feathery and fluffy. like that situation of people thinking all dinosaurs were just scaly all over, only for the discovery of feathered dinosaurs. if baby dragons are like fluffy little chicks right out of their eggs and a human goes “oh how cute” and tries to pet it and then they lose a arm.

these humans still having that weird human tendency to want to pet things they think are cute. not even cute, just pet things in general because their society has allowed them to get comfortable enough to not just immediately jump to kill these fluffy little menaces on sight (long story and history of dragons preying on humans in the past).

dragons having different feathered patterns and features like birds of prey to give some variety. the ones in the frozen regions looking like snowy owls while others look like typical birds of prey found in forests and mountains.

dragons just being like weird messed looking birds, but they’re not birds. they’re the secret third thing that comes with being both a cold-blooded reptile while having the feathered patterns of a red kite or a kestrel.

you know what, making the cult of the million deer a real thing (canon to the universe now) in this world, because it gives me an excuse to write more horror stuff and the concept of it has grown on me
