"I’m not real."

"I know."

"Then why do you keep talking to me?"

"..Because you're the last thing keeping me sane in this place."

He watched as you released his cheeks and shifted your gaze elsewhere, somewhere beyond his "room."

"There," you pointed to the door with your index finger, "if you can at least get a card from one of the guards or scientists, maybe you can get out of here."

He no longer knew if it was his thoughts affecting his hallucinations, making him feel so convinced to act if it was you who told him to.

He felt that ghostly touch once more as you gently held his cheeks, smiling at him like you always did.He never dared to reach out to touch you—not just because of the new trauma he had acquired, but because he felt that if he did, he’d forget you were only one of his hallucinations and that the real you wasn’t there with him.
