Leos 2 questions!

1) How did yall realize that there were 2 systems rather than 1? Was that always the case or was it like a whole thing?

2) When figuring out median system things is it just like. Vibes or is it like one of you feels the split?

Sorry I’m having plural thoughts again and everything is weird and strange but. Am curious

we kept categorizing people as "pre-system", which was like. "okay there is some kind of plurality happening here but it was before the Leo System existed so idk what was up with that". that was a term we were using to describe T1 for YEARS. and there was always a lot of weirdness with a ~brain location~ we called a bunch of stuff but currently call Otherside, where it was like. yeah there's a totally different gang of people there. sometimes they cross over to here but if we try to cross over there (except for me, katie) while in front we get all fuzzybrained. im sure thats normal and just wacky gateway stuff <- clueless

and even then it took EONS for us to finally like. discover the fact that "several systems in one body" is a Thing? and that made us finally remember that waaaayyy before the leo system existed, i did have. what would be considered a uuhhhhhh i forgot the exact term but it's a system where only i front. its just that i didnt know plurality was a Thing back then, and when i did learn abt plurality it was after the first system went dormant and then the leo system happened. but it has its own headspace and way it functions and everything. and since then we've been working on waking it back up! which has been Weird and Strange bc having two systems that play by their own rules coexisting is. a bit of a headache. also i need to draw charts but its too 11pm for that

MEDIAN STUFF IS. MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD. kinda. the Icaroids (me, pat, summer, mae, wy, etc) consider ourselves median bc we just feel very. interconnected? like we have our differences (KATIE BEAM!!!!) but we have very obvious Shared Traits and we affect each other a lot, like wayyyy more than the rest of the system. n theres this just like, general feeling of Connection that we explain as being like siblings but thats not entirely it? idk we're a package deal do not separate. but in our case its also def bc the others Were Me at one point in time due to the. not just splitting but also "katie fuckin exploded" thing, so the link of "we were all the same person once" is still There even if theyre separate people now

does that make sense??? i dont know if it does. our brain's weird. but i guess its like a mix of Feeling The Split and Vibes and also just us trying to define whatever nightmare hell spaghetti is happening to us at any given time

YAAAAAAY THIS CHAPTER WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!

Wels and Tanguish’s dynamic is so so SO peak. Absolutely peak as fuck. Tanguish could have two hands if Welsknight wasn’t such a prick about it. They bounce off each other SO well in a very “I fucking hate you but you remind me so much of someone I know” way which was intentional I know but I have to point it out. Like I said. Tanguish could have two hands.

AND SPEAKING OF HANDS. DERMATILLOMANIA RE-EMERGES FROM THE GLOVES. I love how Gross this chapter is in terms of describing the sensation of Tanguish picking. I actually finished writing a poem about dermatillomania right before I read this chapter and one thing I try to get across is the fact that this condition is in fact bloody and messy and gross and gorey and needs special care taken to it afterwards. Me and Tanguish shaking bloody hands. Shoutout to Wels for going on wound treatment duty.

I just. AUGH I loved this chapter so much. There are lines in there that are rotisserie chickens in my head. “Stop giving me things to lie about” is the most badass cunty thing Tanguish has ever said and I literally went OHHHHHHHH out loud when I read it. Just. AUGH. Love love love. 11/10 great work here.

Lol the idea of Tanguish somehow wooing Wels and Hels so they're forced to be civil in order to keep him happy is amazing to me. Two hands indeed. Two hands in a white knuckled grip while they glare and snarl over his head at each other like feral dogs.

And Wels on wound care duty! I feel like he would feel like he has to. It's like paying a toll for information. He caused this, in the pursuit of his questions. It would be cruel then, to make Tanguish suffer the consequences unaided.

Glad you liked the chapter! The Tanguish / Wels chapters are some of my favorite right now, just because of the amount of friction they have with each other. They are at moments very reasonable, logical, even civil, and then suddenly they are at each other's throats. The consequences of losing good will -- every interaction, no matter how benign, is taken with bad will. You're using me. I know you are. You aren't capable of simple kindness.

And then Tango is back in the room, and they have to pretend they haven't just had a knife fight in the dark for the past conversation.

YAAAAAY NEW CHAPTER :D

I wanted to mention this earlier bc I saw it emerging as one of the Big Things for the next few chapters but I love how you write Tanguish’s dermatillomania (idk if you’ve heard of that term before, but it’s the medical word for repetitive and harmful skin picking). As someone with that condition it’s like….never talked about ever or represented in media ever so seeing it here means a lot, but it gets so many bonus points because it’s written so well. The way that it’s not a thing Tanguish thinks about, it’s just something he does, and sometimes he sorta needs the pain to keep himself grounded, and now the gloves driving him up the wall because he can’t get to his usual source (however harmful it may be) of comfort. It’s so real and refreshing to see and I keep pointing at Tanguish and going “he’s just like me frfr” so yippee

I'm glad it's a good representation! I don't have that particular mania [well, I do remove scabs when I have them, but I don't make them myself very often], but I do have a bad habit of pulling my hair out, and I tried to use one as inspiration for the other. The two nervous habits come from the same place, and offer the same catharsis, even if one is more painful than the other. I'm glad I could do the condition justice, as an outsider looking in!

i havent read hermitcraft fanfiction in ages it has to be directly delivered to my doorstep with a little note that says "this is kind of like [thing you already liked]" or "this does a thing i know you like" in order for me to touch it

Just read T. Kingfisher’s Thornhedge and I understand your love for your writer now. And also Tanguish a bit more. I think.

This actually prompted me to read Thornhedge, because it's one of the Kingfisher books I hadn't picked up yet [I also need to get around to A Sorceress Comes to Call at some point].

It's an awesome little fairytale retelling! I kind of wish it was longer. Halim and Toadling are a very endearing pair of characters, and I liked how? Almost nonsensically optimistic Halim is? I hope he never changes.

But yes, Kingfisher good writer <3 definitely one of my favorites, if not the favorite. I'm actually really excited, because for my work's secret santa this year my boss got me What Feasts at Night, which I have on Kindle already, but I've been slowly collecting the physical copies of all the Kingfisher books I've read, and now I really, really want to reread both the Sworn Soldier books.

Not sure! In theory yes, this is the last arc. Probably a little longer than the first two, given how things are shaking out in my outline. But I'm woefully impulsive so we'll see.
