A World War Two veteran who disappeared from his nursing home to attend the D-Day commemorations in France has returned to the UK.
Bernard Jordan, 89, left The Pines care home in Hove unannounced at 10:30 BST on Thursday and was reported missing to Sussex Police that evening.
Staff later discovered he had joined other veterans in France.
Everyone always quotes these wonderful things by Anne Frank and how inspiring that after everything, she still had faith in humanity. But...it wasn't "after everything" it was before she was thrown into a concentration camp, split from her family and then starved to death. I want to know her thoughts then. What she thought of the human race when she thought everyone in her family was dead and she was barely holding on.
I've been reading a lot of articles on torture for school...
but just now I stumbled upon the fact that there was this guy who was an interrogator in WWII
and instead of using violence or torture he would just.... be nice to people
to get information
and he was the best in the business, yo.
I feel like that's really cool. Good job Hanns Scharff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanns_Scharff#Technique
