Fic rec: They Put A Man On The Moon

Summary:

1969: John and Paul and the moon landing.

Why I like this fic:

Because it connects the mundane miracle of the moon landing to John and Paul with a million little threads without destroying the magic that is them, and their love. It's a short fic about a stolen moment between the two of them during what wasn't their best time together, but when I finished reading it, my heart was filled with hope for them. I was so happy to discover this story I hadn't read before, by one of my favorite writers.

Summary:

What happened before the legendary John/Paul "boyfriends" photograph (the one on which John is wearing a thick towel/scarf, and Paul doesn't wear a shirt under his sweater)? Pic included!

Why I like this fic:

It's sweet and short and hot, and it does a very, very, very good job with textures and with leaving things to the imagination. Simply adorable for an extra mclennon shot in the arm (or wherever you prefer them).

Summary:

1969. "George looks down, takes in the astonishing image of Paul kneeling at his feet, and thinks incredulously that John's so much inside him after all this time that Paul could never get him out again, however hard he tried. Even now that John himself is long gone."

Why I like this fic:

It's centered on George, and shows his relationships to Paul and John in very few words and with infinite depth. And who is the centerfold? George himself? Paul? John? A case can be made for all three.

It's a sad story, but the love is there. This includes George's (too brief) friendship with Paul, which is...honored here. Strange word perhaps, but that's what it feels like. I could waffle on (the more I think about it, the more interesting and well-crafted I thing this story is), but read it yourself...!

Summary:

Get Back Era Beatles/Twin Peaks crossover fic, centered on George.

Why I like this fic:

Did you see the summary? :-) No, but seriously, I love how eerie and atmospheric this is—symmetrical, too, in a way—and that it's a J/P/G/R fic.

I highly recommend all of this author's work. They appear to have stopped putting work on ao3 in 2012 but they are all very much worth the read.

Why I like this fic:

It’s a short & sweet early days fic, with the perfect balance between budding attraction and banter. You can feel them opening up to each other—and perhaps more. It’s just always lovely to see them in the beginning of everything. Just two boys in love, sharing a bed.
