Fall 1960. Ringo Starr, drummer with the Hurricanes, learns that John and Paul of the Beatles have disappeared. He's sucked into the network of rumors and speculations about the band and Lennon-McCartney, and becomes friends with George...

Why I like this fic:

Because of the dark, eerie atmosphere that captures the early Beatles magic perfectly (when they were Liverpool's beloved secret...), because of the way Ringo's POV is written, and because of the ending. I'd say it's Lynchian, but it's also its own, undefinable, lovely thing. The friendship between George and Ringo feels so real, too. Read it to make sense of this rambling rec. You will not regret it!

Summary:

Paul stares before he realises he’s staring. Because- God, because. This boy is so different, something cut from a film, made of things other than grimy Liverpool streets. He’s slouched and bored and just- he’s nothing like Paul’s ever seen. Strong, aquiline nose and sharp lines that both push away and invite you to look, sideboards like the teddies from London, from America, and a squint

in his eye that match the suave of his jacket and drainies. Paul wants to let his body loll into non-existence just to stare at him, at the lines and slopes of his face.

Why I like this fic:

This fic has two of my favorite things- their first meeting and a lave-at-first-site pinning that sets your heart a flutter. The author shows Paul’s blind determination for John so impeccably well, before finally giving the slightest peek into Paul securing his rightful place as John’s number one boy.

Summary: John and Paul on their trip to Caversham, Berkshire. April, 1960.

Why I like this fic: I just reread this today and fell in love all over again. Their shy simmering obsession with each other is so palpable. They flirt, they circle each other, but they can’t quite come out and say anything — until they do. I like that it’s clearly a potent mutual attraction; Paul wants John just as urgently as John wants him, and their teenage newness to these sorts of feelings runs all the way through it. And the kiss scene is to die for!

Summary

Why I like this fic

This is as close to married mclennon (without homophobia thank God ) as we can get in this fandom and let me tell you there aren't many officially "married" mclennon fics out there . The way this universe's John and Paul show affection through subtle actions is so great . The way paul always looks out for John ,always being one step ahead in knowing what John needs before he even realises he needs it is ARGH PEAK married mclennon behaviour I say. Both of them being each other's comfort bear is an added bonus too . Honestly the entire series (with all of it's 10 parts ) is a treasure trove of great mclennon fics , I highly recommend it !

Why I like this fic:

oh my god where do i even begin...... i read this fic in one sitting and almost made myself late to work to do it and by like a quarter of the way in i KNEW it was making my top 3 mclennon fics ever. this fic is so gorgeous and so, so true to them. it made me tear up more than once and i can literally never listen to "junk" again without thinking about it. one of the most beautiful pieces of writing i've read, period.

It’s a short & sweet early days fic, with the perfect balance between budding attraction and banter. You can feel them opening up to each other—and perhaps more. It’s just always lovely to see them in the beginning of everything. Just two boys in love, sharing a bed.
