Man is like an island set in isolation in a fathomless sea enveloped by darkness, saying that the loneliness his self known is so utterly absolute because even he knows not his self completely

E. Richard Atleo (Umeek), academic, author and Hereditary Chief
Assembly of First Nations
We're all related, we are all related; we're all of common ancestry. As you may have noticed I have two kinds of names, one English, one Nuu-chah-nulth. I will attempt to speak from both perspectives in my presentation.
This video is about 9 minutes long. Umeek has much to say in the time. But I was struck with how he said it; how he spoke from "both" perspectives.
There's something going on in the presentation I can't quite put my finger on. There's a classic technique in conversation: "What I hear you saying is..." Dr. Atleo sometimes notes about what he says, "from a Nuu-chah-nulth perspective." but over all in his presentation he is speaking from both a Nuu-chah-nulth perspective and an English perspective.
Yes, his presentation is "about" perspectives, what makes the presentation remarkable is how it is "from" both perspectives.
