Omg yes let me tell you I have so many feelings over the parallels of iwaoi with achilles and patroclus. I read the Iliad this year and loved it and the relationship between achilles and Patroclus killed me and then I rewatched haikyuu and I already loved iwaoi (childhood friends is my fav trope and they are just perfect together) and then the parallels of iwaoi and achilles and Patroclus killed me and I fell in love even more. I love everything about iwaoi and how they interact with each other and believe so deeply in each other.
And when I found out of the purposeful parallels of oikawa and Alexander the Great hurt so much more too (especially with iwaizumis role of humanizing him, which makes him hephaestion, Alexander’s best friend and closest person)
To make it even better Alexander and hephaestion were always related to being like the reborn Achilles and Patroclus and they even took trips to their graves and laid garlands over the tombs respectively (Alexander to achilles and hephaestion to Patroclus)
So all in all I love Greek mythology and Greek literature so much and iwaoi is such a good otp and I love it so much
And no I haven’t read the song of Achilles yet but I want to so bad because I heard about the I feel like I could eat the world raw line and it immediately reminded me of oikawa telling iwaizumi that he suddenly felt invincible and these two are going to kill me
