I know of a black girl that dated-is dating a black guy that admitted to her he didn't think darker skinned girls were cute & basically argued white girls were his overall preference. This made me laugh not only because her boyfriend was dark chocolate, but the girl-his girl friend- went as far as to coloring her hair blonde. One day we we hung out (the girl&I) She was obsessing her natural roots showing; this too made me laugh. "Girl what are you so worried about? Ya look fine plus I'm sure you-kno-who wouldn't care." I stated. She looked at me, I met her disappointing face, and [she]said, "No, he would..." That's when she went in depth on 'the white girls were better'. I won't argue with that, bc well there's no truth in that lie.(waste of time) Nevertheless, it stunned me how strongly females rely on a man's opinion, acceptance, or attention. For what? To be manipulated, transformed, unhappy, depressed? When did their happiness, or satisfaction require only appearance? It sickens me to hear and recall that story, especially knowing the history between blacks and whites[sigh] No matter the race, be the race in the race and be glad you can run; & if someone decided they wanna run with you, let it be because of the pace & not the race. -NC
