#work complaining

I made a work Facebook post being like “alrighty gang, guess how many Wigglitz are in the jar!” With 0 prize mentioned and expected only 6 comments because that’s the average amount of traction my work posts get because I don’t use AI. This post was also a coverup for my boss catching me pulling out all of the pink and blue ones because I wanted to know what the most printed colour was. (Blue and brown were the most common colours like I had over 200 blue ones and almost 90% of my reds were all lobster. Genuinely fascinating shit I promise)

Anyways. My post took the fuck off.

Over 1,000 views. Over 80% of them are non-followers which is insane. Almost 200 comments/ guesses. Not a single one right yet but like. Really? This is what gets views?? My coworker made a whole cinema quality horror movie trailer for a loud ass duck squeaky toy we sell but the “guess the jellybeans” shitpost that was literally just a cover for me wanting to sort the dam Wigglitz by colour is the one that goes viral???

When my team needs a cheerleader mentality and that falls to me

I don't play mind games in general, and not in work environments extra so. But my new "do less" era and pulling back has meant that I won't initiate mind games but I'm really really great at throwing them back at their originator.

Someone (who has been at the org for 10 years longer than me) pretended not to know a whole big thing in an effort to push a project that should be hers off onto me. I usually would have been like "oh ok sure I'll take it all on bc I'm a dumdum who thinks everyone is as genuine as me and I can do it!!!" But now I'm all "oh wow, if YOU don't know how to do that, I definitely don't either. Best wishes in getting it figured out."

It drives me UP THE WALL when people at work act like the tiny, insignificant things that pop up in their email inbox must absorb their attention all the live long day and no actual work/projects are possible.

I was long ago trained in a professional setting about the concept of attention management. Basically by not giving in to the pressure of the world which wants your attention constantly and structuring how you approach work, you get back hours a week in time that's not lost to constant task switching that your brain cannot quickly manage.

These techniques are how I've been able to keep up as someone w/ AuDHD and knowing others just leave their email inboxes open, and look at every.single.message.individually as they come in, truly is frustrating. It gets portrayed as "oh she's just able to get so much more done and invent time or something lol, guess we can overload her" instead of simply shifting their own behaviors to facilitate efficiency by not losing HOURS per day on unnecessary task switching. SIGH.

If they wanna get nothing done for themselves, whatever. But whey they are affecting others by not getting stuff done and when it's "now this other person is expected to do more" that's where I can't take it.

Closing Shift

God gives his biggest shoes to his funniest clowns. I'm not going to go into details because this could blow back bad on me if my workplace tracks down my socials but I suddenly need to have three weeks worth of backstock less than a week before inventory... Help.

To put it bluntly, some of my coworkers are clowns…it’s one thing when they’re clowns and it only reflects clownishly on themselves. When I look like a clown by proxy, that’s rage making for me.

This is why I struggle so much with the "do less, quiet quit" mentality toward work. Work or not, I have ways that I comport myself that I take deep pride in. Namely, 1) I simply refuse to do things that feel disrespectful to other people's time and 2) I very very much like to be "on top of things."

I'm so so so so glad I'm not "in charge" anymore...but damn if I don't struggle w/ operating in systems I dislike, but can't do much to change. Stepping into a role w/ less "institutional power" than I had grown into at my last org is exactly what I wanted, but there are drawbacks.
