#work grumping

So I have a mug that says "I'm sorry for what I said when I was debugging" for work, but I feel like what I really need is a mug that says "I'm sorry for what I said when you changed the scope on me."

i read this job advice site and its p much all white collar workers so like hearing comments about PTO and sick leave make me jealous. esp when someone comments like “ONLY 5 days??” i get zero. absolutely nothing. i am allowed to take time off (with a dr’s note) but it is unpaid. that makes me think really really hard about staying out sick. my finances tanked when i had to take a week off once for pneumonia, and once for an unknown viral infection.

like... ive worked through days i really shouldnt be in, like a migraine so bad i can barely see or move, when im running off to throw up and get woozy... i dont have enough time to go to a doctor and sometimes it happens in the middle of the shift.

You know, the worst part about what’s going on is I know it’s not me. They did the same nonsense to the guy who was here before me. They are never here so they have no concept of what works in this store in practical application. They think they are the face of this place when really, it’s the people like me or the last manager that others see everyday. They can’t or won’t acknowledge that we bust our asses, that we take pride in it, that this place is important to us because they aren’t here to see that. I have put so much time and effort into this place, extra time I don’t get paid for and money I don’t get back, but no one’s time is as important as theirs. 

it just sucks because I have so many big plans for this place this summer but I am so burnout. I know that the effort I put into this stuff isn’t going to be appreciated or even acknowledged so it’s hard for me to get motivated. Especially when I am coming in to passive aggressive notes about things I can’t fix until they bring me the stuff or do the things I asked them to do months ago. IDK, I’m just burnt out, my vacation can’t get here fast enough.
