So today at work a man threatened my manager and refused to leave the premises until she involved police...all because she wouldn’t let him bring his non-service dog into the store.

Dogs have never been allowed in stores unless they’re working. I don’t understand why this kind of response was necessary or why someone thought they’d get a free pass in the first place.

What I do know though is this makes the mask mandate going into affect next week absolutely terrifying.

If people can’t be normal about policies that have always been in place now I don’t even want to think about what it’s going to be like when it involves something that gets assigned an unecessary amount of political and religious weight.

At this point I’m scared for my safety and wondering if it’s worth giving up the slightly higher than minimum salary for another job.

Just because we do take change for payment doesn't mean we'll like you if you spend more than $0.25 in pennies. And I will personally judge you so fucking much if you pay me in over $3.50 in loose pennies.

Coworker: You know what I've been thinking about? Like, how [name of other coworker] doesn't have a customer-service-voice.

Me: ... Fuck, I didn't think about that...

Coworker: Yeah. But we both do.

Me: oh god don't remind me

Coworker: We both go up, like, at least an octave when speaking with customers, and then as soon as we turn around and talk to each other we're back to normal.

Me: oh god

Coworker: But she doesn't, because she didn't START OUT working with customers. We're both used to it.

Me: .... You're saying our first jobs broke us.

Coworker: I'm saying our first jobs broke us and now we can't even talk to cashiers at supermarkets without using our customer-service-voices.

Me: i want a refund

Coworker: same

Sorry. I just need to complain.

You know, it would make more sense to fix a fucking problem completely (and cost less money) than to do shitty patch jobs over and over again. But no, instead of fixing the fucking leak in the damn ceiling they just replace the water damaged tiles over and over again. I mean, seriously, it fucking leaks, to the point of having to put a bucket on the floor and cover up 3 fucking shelving units (thereby hiding the products on the shelves) every time it rains/snows while being semi warm/snow thaws. Just bullshit if you ask me.

Customer: I'd like to use my discount on gas

Me: Okay, Ma'am, you'll need to use your discount card

Customer: I don't have it on me

Me: I can't give you the discount without the card

Customer: But the store in (next town over) doesn't need the card to get the discount, you can just put your number in

Me: Ma'am, the other store has had that in place for years now, we just started taking that discount card two weeks ago

Customer: I don't care, I want my discount

Me: I cannot give you a discount without the card

Customer: *writes down my name on her receipt* I'm going to call your manager and complain

Other cashier: (who came in to buy something 15 minutes later after I tell her about customer) Oh, her, she does this sort of thing all the time and then calls corporate to complain and tries to get free gift cards as compansation

Me: What a bitch

Other cashier: That's putting it mildly

Saying “No, I’m sorry, the store is closed” is not me fucking having a bad attitude you fucking ugly bitch. We made the fucking announcement that the store was closing 15, 10, and 5 minutes before the store closed (during which time you and your cunt daughter were still fucking browsing the racks), so no I will not leave my position at the door making sure no one else comes in and everyone who was still checking out can get out of the store to let her into the fitting room. You've fucking done this more than once. Go fuck yourself.

Work frustration under the cut. Skip if you want/need to.

I've been at my job over two years. My quality scores are consistently the highest score, my evaluations are almost always 100%. I have member compliments all the time on my comportment and ability to engage and make people feel welcome. I've been asking to shadow at other departments and cross train for the entire time I've worked here and I found out at the beginning of this week that someone who hasn't been here more than 9 months got chosen to do all those things instead of me. This is after I had applied some months back for a different position in records and found out they had already chosen someone else but they couldn't take back my interview time so they wasted my time with a useless interview.

I have felt defeated and foolish this entire week. Why am I even trying when it doesn't matter how hard I work? Why don't they just tell me I won't ever be anything other than the position I have now instead of dangling that hope in front of my face like a sadistic ass.

I'm so glad it's Friday because this entire week has been clouded with my anger and frustration with this supposedly great company to work for.

If I didn't desperately need this job I would quit and work somewhere else. Because this shit is ridiculous.
