26 (inhuman illness) for your lovely duo, pretty please?
26. If your OC is not human, are there illnesses specific to their species or culture? If so, what are they and how do they happen?
For Cerberus, innately Fire and more so than anyone else in the Underworld – he was mortally pyrokinetic – his particular sensitivity to ice is directly related to that, although it’s not applicable to every Fire Demon – or, at least, not necessarily as intensely. Ice media specialist Demons will likewise experience negative effects from extreme heat and the like, though the way in which these effects manifest can and do vary. The most common specific-to-their-kind thing that Demons, and Sorcerers, experience is aftershock, which is the result of wielding powers greater than the user’s capacity, and manifests very similar to flu in terms of symptoms. It's like the body needs to recalibrate afterwards, and things go...awry. It can be mild or it can be intense, depending on just how far said powers were extended. Cerberus is only very rarely affected by this; it takes a hell of a lot for aftershock to hit him at all, let alone heavily. He’s really only dealt with the full effects of it once, which was a six-generations-back resurrection. (Contextually, resurrection at all is an extremely rare and elite skill that very few can even perform. The further back in time the death occurred, the more difficult the resurrection is. Six generations was completely unprecedented. He did it for Kia’s benefit, before they’re a couple and he figures out that there are less extreme ways to flirt. Makes an appearance in fic The Answer, because who am I to let this kind of rarity go unrecorded, heh.) So, then, to Kia. I break with a fuckton of the usual vampiric lore in the Underworld, so quite a huge lot of the usual mythos does not apply. One that does match up, though, at least in part, is the need to perform the Take – the Underworld term for blood-drinking, the feed. Because blood isn’t the only thing Underworldian Vampires consume, it’s not nearly the same kind of frequency, but if too long passes between Takings, that’ll result in weakness, confusion, exhaustion, disorientation sort of thing. But garlic doesn’t do a damn thing, and neither does the waving about of crucifixes, and mirrors reflect as per usual. A stake through the heart would work, sure, but that’ll kill just about anything.
(I do have an OC who is allergic to the mortal plan’s atmosphere, but nobody’s met him here – yet, at least. Perhaps sometime.)
AmbRollins work well together 🤜🤛💕 (gifs created by me)
Let me hold your halo while you take it down your throat
That would be convenient.
