Then changed my shirt, turned my antennas into ears, changed my dots to whiskers and turned into a 🐈‍⬛ for trick or treating for Halloween

Rainbow Bright

Dressing professionally doesn't have to be boring. Obviously, it depends how formal is your work environment, but for a university, this works without problem. I love this colorful madras shirt, but I kept the skirt and jacket colors solid to balance it. The bag and shoes were kept neutral for the same reason. Overall, quite a preppy combination of green and pink.

Vestirse para trabajar no tiene por que ser aburrido. Obviamente todo depende de lo formal que sea tu ambiente de trabajo, pero para la universidad, esto funciona sin problemas. Me encanta esta camisa en tejido madrás de colores, sin embargo mantuve la chaqueta y la falda en colores sólidos para balancear tanto color. Mantuve también el bolso y los zapatos en un color neutral por la misma razon. Al final, esta fue una combinación muy preppy en verde y rosado.

Embassy Style

As you know, I had to travel to Spain a couple of weeks ago, and because it was totally unexpected, I had not realized that my passport had expired, which meant that I had to visit the American Embassy for an Emergency Passport to be able to travel back home. When I got dressed, I realized that this was quite the patriotic look, which was quite funny, because it is patriotic for all of my three citizenships!

The Mirror Review: The weather in Madrid was spectacular and truly Spring-y, so although lots of people were wearing coats (out of routine, I imagine), it was not as cold as to need one. A blazer and a sweater on your back was enough for me.

I find that it is both fresh and flirty, light and feminine, and very classic. When I looked online, I was pleasantly identified by the description in the Oscar de la Renta site: “For the spontaneous, energetic woman who spreads her enthusiasm everywhere she goes. A radiant, sparkling scent.” And also, “So de la Renta revels in the elegant, unexpected, playful side of the Oscar woman.”

Lipstick: Some people have asked me what lipstick brand/color I use. It is nothing fancy…just drugstore Maybelline Red Revival (here) and Revlon Lip Liner in Red (here)

Como saben, tuve que viajar a España hace un par de semanas, y como fue un viaje inesperado, no me di cuenta que tenía el pasaporte vencido, con lo cual tuve que visitar la Embajada Americana para que me dieran un pasaporte de emergencia para poder volver a casa. Cuando terminé de vestirme, me di cuenta que lo había hecho de manera muy patriótica, lo cual me hizo todavía mas gracia porque era patriótica para mis tres nacionalidades!

La Respuesta del Espejo: El clima en Madrid fue espectacular y verdaderamente primaveral, asi que aunque mucha gente llevaba abrigos (supongo que por rutina), no hacía tanto frio como necesitar uno. Una chaqueta y un suéter en la espalda eran mas que suficientes para mi.

Work Horse

This is what I wore to start the academic year. It's probably a bit dressier than what I would have normally worn, but the reason for it is that I had an event at Neiman Marcus right after class. Therefore, the only thing I switched was the shoes. I taught in brown pumps not in these mirror gold sandals! Since it was a Fall trend event, I wanted to wear two trends that will be quite big this year: red and wide-leg pants.

The Mirror Review: I don't particularly like the 70s when it comes to style, but the era is another big trend this fall, so given the wide-leg pants, I decided to add the mirro-gold platform sandals for an even more 70s effect. Of course, I toned it down by going 70s preppy as opposed to 70s Studio 54, which fits me a bit better!

Este fue lo que me puse para comenzar el año académico. Probablemente es un poco mas elegante de lo que me pondría normalmente, pero la razón fue que tenía un evento en Neiman Marcus justo después de clase, asi que lo único que me cambié fueron los zapatos. Di clase con unos zapatos marrones, no con estas sandalias color dorado metalizado! Como era un evento de tendencias de otoño, quise lucir dos tendencias que van a ser bastante importantes este otoño: el color rojo y los pantalones anchos.

La Respuesta del Espejo: A mi no me gusta el estilo de los años 70 en particular, pero esa es una era que también va a ser tendencia en el otoño, asi que decidí ponerme estas sandalias de color dorado metalizado para un efecto todavía mas setentero. Por supuesto traté de hacerlo de un modo mas elegante; en otras palabras, tirando mas hacia unos 70 preppy que hacia unos 70 del Estudio 54, lo cual va mas conmigo!
