The lesson here, children, is as follows: Do not get employed by Sykes, you will have zero job security.
Long story short, this morning as my girlfriend and I were just waking up (we’re at home because we’re not well), there came a knock on the door. Lo and behold, the person knocking carried a document. More specifically, a contract of termination of employment, ahead of time. The probation employment was not over yet.
Yes, my darling is currently within her last month of employment, and it will end officially on October 7th. Why am I mad? Because they did not give a reason. They have not given a reason as to why they’re ending the employment contract.
We’ve been trying to think of why it might have happened, and the only thing we can come up with is illness. Which is STILL bullshit, because we’re in a flu-period. There is also the thing about if you move from one country to another, you are more likely to get ill, because it takes time to get your immune system used to the change. There are other Finnish workers who have told her about this and said that they went through the same thing.
Also. There is this. If the employee is ill on, say, the same day every month, the people at Sykes have stated that they will contact the employee and check if it’s something serious, if you need a doctor and so on. WHICH THEY HAVEN’T DONE. And when I emailed HR, they basically said “I don’t know what you’re talking about, we don’t do that”. They told me that explicitly before I signed the contract, and I remember it VERY well. So there’s a bunch of bullshit.
Sykes have claimed again and again that they need Finnish workers, they even pay them a sum of 5000 SEK to help said workers to move to Sweden and get an apartment faster and so on. But if the employee quits before the probation period is over, they have to pay that sum back. WHich we can’t fucking do.
My girlfriend is LITERALLY one of the 2 best worker the Finnish team HAS. She is EXTREMELY diligent in her work, she performs her tasks to damn near perfection. And Sykes, while claiming they need good Finnish workers, are kicking her out without a single fucking reason.
Do not get employed by Sykes if you’re coming from another country to Sweden. DO NOT. It’s an extremely bad idea, because shit like this might happen and then you’re fucking stranded without any knowledge of WHY you lost your job and without any possibility of finding another one.
