When you have to be a corporate slave on monday.
There is now a full time position available in my department at work and I think I'm going to apply for it.
This would be my first full time job ever which scares the crap out of me. I've only worked part time jobs so far due to transportation issues. I'm torn between "fuck I need money and health care and more money means I can buy and do more things I love" and "god do I love only working 3 or 4 days a week and having so much time to myself at home to have a life and hobbies".
But I've had every team member tell me they'd love for me to be there more (hell I've gotten 2 texts from coworkers today telling me the job is open) and I do love my job. So I'm not worried about that part. I worry it'll exhaust me and about losing my social life. I worry about that a lot.
The other thing is that I've been told secretly that the department I want to be in, the department I have my degrees for and where my goals lie, might be hiring some positions and they want me to apply for those when/if they come up. The problem is they don't know when those jobs would become available. It could be tomorrow. It could months from now. It could be never. They aren't sure. And I can't guarantee I will get the job if I do apply.
But this job is here now. And with the way the economy is going, more money is needed now. So I just need to make sure that if I apply and take this full time position, it won't bar me from applying for any other positions that might come up soon. I didn't find anything in the handbook about having to be in the position for a certain time before being able to transfer departments. But I'm not absolutely sure and I need to be absolutely sure. I will not shoot myself in the foot here.
look how fine i looked at work today
Mom, over the phone: So what are you up to?
Me: Eating a taco salad in my underwear
Self-care, y’all✌🏼
Help I think I was on my feet for at least 7 hours today
I finished training today so now I'm supposed to know stuff about things. 🤔
I'm gonna live in my shower now. This work week has been the worst.
