You see. When making a piece of Jewelry that is more than ornamentation various factors come into play. MILLIONS of changes that effect from moment to moment- and must be adjusted for. To top that off, there is a finite moment where the metal is at the correct temperature where it is possible for the Worker to easily manipulate the molecular structure to follow the occurrences that will produce a desired result. Be it a curse or a shield. It should also be noted that metals can only hold instructions and running parameters, and as such cannot hold their own energy. So any Work that requires energy must be supplied by the wearer (In the case of most average shield pieces) OR by a stone in direct contact with the metal. The metal can act as an absorbing medium for the stone, as stones cannot gather on their own energy. Some Works can be powered by electro magnetism and light, but that Work is often beyond the average witch. Sitting mostly with the "Grand" Witches and Workers (sorcerers) It should be noted as well, Witches and Wizards are workers of magic using words. Sorcerers are Workers who use items and writing as primary means of magical articulation- they can in the case of Grand Sorcerers Work on the same level with words as Grand Witches and vice versa.
