Industrial Ave, charcoal on paper, 12 x 16” This new drawing, along with the previous drawing I posted are both of scenes I passed countless times on walks and bike rides between campus and the bouldering gym in Vancouver BC. Completely mundane activities. One of the things I love most about drawing and drawing representationally in particular is that it elevates these banal moments, and in the act of recreating them I relive the memories over and over again. I relive the way I felt, the way the air smelled and the seasons passed, my happiness, sadness, loneliness, everything! In the minutia of drawing these places I inhabited I come to know them so much more intimately. It’s a way of preserving memories and of knowing places and myself in such a deep and meditative way. I will never apologize for working realistically because this right here, is everything to me. . #drawing #meditation #workingmeditation #flowstate #charcoal #charcoaldrawing #landscapedrawing #memories #realism #representationalart #contemporaryart #art #graffiti #vancouver #canada #britishcolumbia #stephaniebuer #artist #artistsoninstagram #talongallery #portland #oregon #upcomingshow #artshow #supportartists #supportwomenartists https://www.instagram.com/p/ClRd4LxPyzc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
