Workplace rules. A pseudo justice system that protect the well connected.
In certain cases in certain countries, when a spouse dies the first suspects are usually the husband or the wife. Procedure clears them of guilt only after investigation proves them innocent then the next set of suspects are determined or assumed by the next degree of connection and or association. Usually the one that stands to gain the most from the circumstances are suspected first.
The approach is almost the same. The work rules are the basis of the violations however that is where the similarity ends. The work place has this tendency to protect the well connected. No amount of damning evidence will prove guilt beyond suspicion if you suck up to the right group of people or bosses. In addition, only the well connected people can convict the innocent solely by their word alone. No solid evidences nor matching work rules clauses are required.
The scales are forever tipped to the heavily connected and will always favor them no matter what.
With that in mind, one must never be righteous in the workplace without being part of high-school like cliques within the work place. Forget being correct, only the well connected win and that is a sad truth.
