A cura di Laura Perrone con Luigi Presicce, Calori&Maillard, Canedicoda, Luca Coclite, Valentina Furian, Gianluca Marinelli, Marcello Nitti, Cesare Pietroiusti, Sergio Solombrino, Francesca Giulia Tavanti. Focalizzato sulla contemplazione, le forme di cura, la creazione di opere d'arte e di eventi artistici, "Omaggio ai caduti" è dedicato ai più di venti grandi alberi eradicati da una tempesta che ha colpito la terra intorno alla Casa Cafausica nell'ottobre 2016. Nonostante la caduta, gli alberi vivono una continua trasformazione come a suggerire possibilità e promesse utopiche. Nel loro atto di resistenza orizzontale, evidenziano il potenziale radicale della caduta, forza creatrice che nella sua natura frammentaria e incompiuta, ci invita a soddisfare la temporalità ancora inesplorata che contiene. Come in un immaginario tributo ai caduti, gli artisti vivranno lo spazio e realizzeranno performance, installazioni temporanee e altre azioni sul tema attraverso rigorose esperienze con la materia. Alla riflessione contribuiranno i musicisti Maria Chavez, Daniel Neumann, Sandy Ewen, Luca Tarantino; la curatrice Lieve D'hondt e altri ospiti. PUBLIC PROGRAMME 12 Luglio Sound Performances Maria Chavez + Daniel Neumann + Sandy Ewen 21h00 – 24h00 [Limited places] Maria Chavez, nata a Lima, Perù, e di base a New York, è meglio conosciuta come "abstract turntablist", sound artist e DJ. Coincidenze, casualità e fallimenti sono i temi che intrecciano le sue sculture sonore, le sue installazioni multicanali, e altri lavori caratterizzati dalla pratica di performance improvvisata per giradischi. Maria è stata invitata come DJ in musei, club, festival di tutto il mondo e recentemente per Dich Bar, a Mosca e per NADA Art fair durante Art Basel, Miami Beach. Nel 2017 è artista selezionata per la Fondazione Robert Rauschenberg, ha collaborato con la JUDD Foundation (Marfa, Texas) e presenterà un nuovo pezzo di arte sonica radiofonica per Every Time a Ear di Soun progetto di DOCUMENTA 14 a Kassel, Germany. Daniel Neumann, nato in Germania e di base a Brooklyn, è artista sonoro, produttore e ingegnere del suono. Ha conseguito la sua laurea in media art presso l'Accademia di Arti Visive di Lipsia e ha studiato composizione per musica elettronica con Emanuele Casale a Catania, Italia. Nella sua pratica artistica utilizza strategie concettuali e spesso collaborative per esplorare il suono, i materiali sonori e le loro modulazioni attraverso spazio, situazioni e media. Come curatore gestisce una serie di eventi tra New York e Berlino (CT::SWaM) focalizzati su opere sonore spaziali e incentrate sull'ascolto. Sandy Ewen, Nata a Toronto, Canada, consegue una laurea triennale in architettura presso l'Università del Texas, Austin nel 2008. Risiede a Houston, Texas, dove segue progetti musicali e visivi e continua gli studi in architettura per conseguire la laurea magistrale. Ha pubblicato diversi album tra cui un duo con il chitarrista Tom Carter, un trio con il bassista Damon Smith & il batterista Weasel Walter, e un album rock con Austin’s Weird Weeds. I suoi lavori visivi sono strettamente legati alla sua ricerca sonora, utilizza infatti entrambi i medium per esplorare texture, composizioni e materiali. Una figura che spazia tra grafica, design, musica, moda e in qualche modo arte. I due giorni di workshop insieme a Canedicoda vogliono proporsi come un momento di riflessione attiva sugli spazi della Fondazione Lac O Le Mon, in relazione con gli alberi caduti. Insieme si cercherà di valutare, progettare e realizzare qualche possibile oggetto utile alla vita presente e futura della Fondazione e dei suoi ospiti. L'approccio di Canedicoda vuole essere semplice e legato al pratico. Tramite dialogo, confronto e attività di falegnameria acrobatica, verranno sviluppati elementi d'arredo, come sedie, panche, tavoli, mensole, appendiabiti o comodini. A TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN From 10 to 23 July Casa Cafausica

A project curated by Laura Perrone with Luigi Presicce, Calori&Maillard, Canedicoda, Luca Coclite, Valentina Furian, Gianluca Marinelli, Marcello Nitti, Cesare Pietroiusti, Sergio Solombrino, Francesca Giulia Tavanti.

Focused on contemplation, forms of care, creation of artworks and art events, “Omaggio ai caduti” is dedicated to the more than twenty big trees that were eradicated by a storm that hit the land around the Casa Cafausica in October 2016. Like an imaginary "tribute to the fallen", in this period, artists will live the space and will realize performances, installations and other actions related to that theme.

PUBLIC PROGRAMME 12 Luglio Sound Performances Maria Chavez + Daniel Neumann + Sandy Ewen 21h00 – 24h00 [Limited places]

Maria Chavez, Born in Lima, Peru and based in NYC, is best known as an abstract turntablist, sound artist and DJ. Accidents, coincidence, and failures are themes that unite her sound sculptures, multi-channel speaker installations, and other works with her improvised solo turntable performance practice. She was chosen to be a composer fellow with the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Umbertide, Italy and is currently a research fellow with the Sound Practice Research Department of Goldsmith’s University of London. She will be an arts fellow with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation in 2017. She was an artist in residence with CEC Artslink in St. Petersburg, Russia, has presented sound installation and performance works for the JUDD Foundation (Marfa, Texas), and will present a new radio sonic art piece for Every Time a Ear di Soun as part of DOCUMENTA 14 in Kassel, Germany this year. She has DJ’d in art museums, clubs, and festivals all over the world, most recently for Dich Bar, Moscow and for the NADA Art fair during Art Basel in Miami Beach. Daniel Neumann, born in Germany in 1979, is a Brooklyn-based sound artist, organizer and audio engineer, originally from Germany. He holds a master's degree in media art from the Academy of Visual Art Leipzig and also studied electronic music composition under Emanuele Casale in Catania, Italy. In his artistic practice he is using conceptual and often collaborative strategies to explore sound, sound material and its modulation through space, situation and media. Curatorially he runs an event series in NYC and Berlin (CT::SWaM) that engages in spatial sound works and focussed listening. Sandy Ewen, born in Toronto, Canada in 1985, received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008. Since then she has resided in Houston, TX where she pursues musical and visual projects and her architecture license. Ewen has released several albums, including a duo with guitarist Tom Carter, a trio with bassist Damon Smith & drummer Weasel Walter, and a rock album with Austin’s Weird Weeds. Ewen’s visual work is closely tied to her work in sound; she uses both mediums to explore texture, composition and materials.

15 - 16 Luglio Workshop 10h00 – 18h00 [Limited places]

Canedicoda is an artist, based in Milan. His practice ranges different disciplines as graphics, design, music, fashion and somehow art. The two days workshop want to offer an active reflection about the Casa Cafausica in relation to the fallen trees. The aim will be to evaluate, design and realize some useful objects for present and future life of the Lac O Le Mon Foundation and its guests. Canedicoda's approach is simple and practical. Through dialogue, comparison and acrobatic joinery activities, furniture, such as chairs, benches, tables, shelves, coat racks or bedside tables will be developed.
