It only seemed right to have them in for our Truancy Volume series, which now comes in at its 152nd edition. The London-based pair have been playing and hosting parties in the UK Capital for a number of years now as well as holding down a regular show on Radar Radio. They're also good friends with our pals Swing Ting, and they do occasionally make the trip up the M6 to play at the Manchester clubnight. HDD are proponents of the World Carnival sound which combines passion Afropop, soca, dancehall and more, dipped in the influence of the UK and London. They've made us dance and put smiles on our faces countless times, so we're incredibly pleased to have them on board for the series. We also asked them a few questions to find out more about the mix and what HDD is all about. Enjoy!

Hey y'all! It's Katie, and I'm here again to tell you guys a little bit about a fun campus tradition that we like to call WORLD CARNIVAL.
World Carnival is a huge, all-day festival of food, fun, performances, activities, and more! With input and help from all of the SGA clubs, the World Carnival board puts it on every year, and it usually happens in mid-April (It was on my birthday this past year!). There are vendors from local businesses who sell their food and wares, performances by both school, local, and regional groups, cool group activities (like the Holi Festival), and not to mention a musical performance for the finale! The student body gets to vote on which music group gets to visit, and the options are always relatively well known!
Basically, it’s St. Mary’s version of a carnival - but with less rides and more fun!

On today's VEDA video, I discuss what I've been doing for the past couple of days specifically in regards to my visit at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The bad puns are over! It has been announced and Los Angeles Band, Thick as Thieves, will be playing this year’s World Carnival! They are a unique band, combining alt rock and hip-hop to create a different kind of music you can’t help but keep listening to.
