The shit is very effective because it shows the defiance Lamon Record has. The frame is shown where we can that they are equals despite their different jobs and stance in society. I think the policeman is black and so it looks like he is calm and understanding but authorities at the same time. There are so many messages in which one can understand different meanings or many meanings.

David Guttenfalder wants to show how Korea portrays themselves to the public. the houses are colourful and there are happy faces which often than not is probably not true. By reason of the fact that I have watched documentaries on North Korea, I know this to be not true. The country wants to portray that they are a happy nation, but the images of the many empty streets and the concert hall were a “war film” is shown shows the opposite. it shows a country that is oppressed and because they do not have a good relationship with the rest of the world it is the best option to look good and to not look bad. It is also very military based and this hints to the fact that people probably do not have human liberties (rights).

These pictures are of her parents who were battling cancer. They died a year and a day apart. The title "A Life In Death" enforces the thought that their cancer is terminal but some of the pictures show how they found happiness in each other and enjoyed their lives despite death =cancer. They were always together and even on Howie's deathbed she looks like she's smiling. As if she knows that he's in a breed place without suffering. Of course, there's a picture showing Laurels distress when they are in the bathroom. However, we can see that the husband is always by her side being supportive.

A baby is being handed to a refugee. The issue here is the extended lengths in such these innocent Syrians have to go to to find refuge in another country. It seems as though a lot of countries in Europe are starting to build walls and fences so that these refugees don't come in. In a way, I understand why they are doing this but the lives of people are literally in you ur hands. I think this photo deserved to win because it is so touching because of the story behind it. It's like they are dedicating their lives in order to save this innocent baby. Despite the circumstances.

From this photo I gather that they are protesting against a newspaper hence the *liberté d'expression, je suis la liberté & je suis Charlie* Charlie is a magazine that probably talked about the terrorist attacks. It showed the unity that France has. It also kind of reminds the viewers that France is one of those countries that make big statement and makes you remember the French Revolution and liberation of the nazis after WW2. They were covered by the western media because France in the big five and a country that has a lot of influence. It kind of belongs in the western world and nothing this big had happened to them in a very long time. I don't even think they've had terrorist attacks and it seemed out of the blue.

The photographer is trying evoke compassion and empathy for the process in which these kids have to go through. He used a closeup of a kid to show how lonely and scared they are. They don't know and know what's going on at the same time

This perspective makes you concentrate on the picture. There are many shadows and he plays with the concept of light and dark. The picture confuses you.

Sameer Al- Doumy would risk his life to capture these images because he feels as though it will have more impact that the news. The news are always negative and it seems as though we are apart from the problem, but when the images are still we have no choice but to look at it and admire the poignancy of the subject which is the event. Most of the images shown are of children and how they are innocent and have been attached by this ravaging war. It seems as though the air strikes have occurred because of te smoke that is surrounding them and there are fired and people rushing. The towns do not look still and dead but rushed. People are saving one another and the kids are either in shock or terrified.

He chose to reveal this in the picture because one would maybe think that they are at an agency taking a picture looking go their lost one. It shows the situation in which they live in with other 370,000 other Syrians that have also lost their loved ones and live in the camp.

The story behind it. There's a lot of industrial manufacturers here and with the explanation stating that China is nearly the source of nearly a third of the world's co2 emission. The man in the first frame indicated how the struggle has safe yes him because he has wrinkles I his face and he is pulling a chariot in the snow. There's no mode of transport that is appropriate for this weather and they may suffer. He has a cigarette in his mouth so that may indicate that he wants to relive some stress he's getting from the job. It looks like the sunrise.

The fact that orangutans are probably endangered and that they are around people. The workers in the picture are wearing masks and this is to show that the air is highly polluted and they are probably taking care of these monkeys. The logging activity and fires have wiped out their home. They have baskets filled with food so that's they are able to survive. In order for these animals to not die the workers have to find. The increasing activity of peon gets also forces people of the surrounding areas to take a stand and protect them, hence the orangutan in the cage/behind bars.

For me, the picture that touched me the most is “Hope for a New Life” by Warren Richardson which showcases a powerful image of a baby that is given to another through a fence. The act was done in a rush and it gives me image of the older people sacrificing their lives for the young ones because they will have the future they did not. Just like the title “Hope for a New Life”.
