alright, brown-eyed folk that i’m about to interact with. brown eyes are the rarest of eye colors. red hair and brown eyes are probably the least seen combination, but brown eyes and white hair is probably unheard of.

THE SHAYATIN, or the “ GREAT BEASTS ”
Born as a result of the Goddesses’ meddlings, their mana breathed life into numerable creatures housed under the traditional name of shayatin. They are colloquially termed as the Great Beasts, though each have their respective name and titles. By the legends, these powerful entities are not slumbering, but sealed away by the Goddesses for their insolence, after challenging their right over the Flatlands. There are some who hunt for the runes that have sealed them away in hopes of taming their power to call theirs, while other only hope to never witness their wrath--the ancient bible that speaks in detail of them is called the Shayasil.
> ENTRY: THE WATERWYRM, CETO
“ From the tears of the Tormented One, Sion, Ceto’s scales were dropped one by one unto the ocean from which she rose from turbulent waters. Her fins are decorated with the sails of sunken ships and her mouth is lined with their crushed hulls. Before her sealing, it is said that one must watch the water’s color, for a dark patch beneath your boat could be the hungry mouth of Ceto rising to tuck you into a watery grave. ”
in most countries, red hair is incredibly rare. red, in general, is rare in humans. in aldcoile, most have varying shades of brown, black, or blue, with the most common eye color being blue. as a result, there are some rumors that circulate ruselka that those with red hair/red eyes are descendants of demons/monsters and are either targeted, ostracized, or yknow. they’re just not the norm.
true first name: ur’thothlau aerualep-iveth
but only ilma knows his full name uwu
ilma calls him lau
he’s a demon that was cornered and captured by human heroes and about to be killed when ilma stepped in and basically saved his life early in her heroic career
and as such, he devoted his life to the rest of hers and beyond
unlike most demons, he wields a self-crafted blade because he has forbidden himself from using the mode of cursed magic that would bring about his demon roots to the surface, going against the very nature of his soul
they were basically never seen apart after that
soulmate partners, is what i’m saying, even if it isn’t romantic in any way ... but c’mon.
8 overarching main classes that have councils to police their use of weaponry and mana: - each subclass has a respective guild, but they answer to their class’ council
knights - subclasses may include paladins, protectors, or bastions
warriors - subclasses could be monks, mercenaries, imperials, swordsmen, etc.
healers - subclasses include battle medics, herbalists, and clerics
bards - could be and not limited to sovereigns, troubadours, and other specializations of bards
mages - cmon okay theres like druids, sorcerers, witches, warlocks, mystics, runemasters, etc.
rogues - thieves, assassins, shadowstealers, etc.
summoners - dark hunters, druids could also fall into here, tamers, some mystics, this is kind of a catch-all council that deals with people who draw mana from pacts and bring something else to fight for them, kinda thing
guns exist in the flatlands. they’re just not practical because every bullet needs to have mana imbued into them to do significant damage whereas swords can actually retain the mana and actually grow as it absorbs monster mana. now, if someone were to develop a gun that does the mana imbuing rather than a craftsman,, i think that’d be a business venture to look into for sure
some locations in the cave of tears (floors 1-8) that are pertinent to dungeon guides:
there is a really large lake on floor 2 that must be traversed via boat. it’s very still and beautiful, and technically you can swim through it since only a few freshwater fish live in there, but it’s just really long. it’s very cave-like on floor 2, so there are plenty of stalactites and stalagmites rising from the ground, but it’s also crystal-encrusted. some people bring mining boats to scrape up against the surface of the cave to get some of the purple quartz and amethysts. there’s also trace minaral deposits of a rare type of mana-rich stone called milsuth that is used in higher-level weapon crafting. it’s much rarer on the top floors and becomes a common mineral lower down.
various tower structures actually lead from floors 2-8, and most are spiral staircases. where they end are completely random though. sometimes they will only span one floor, while others go all the way down to the 8th
there’s a tiny forest chamber on the 4th floor that houses echo grass, healing herbs, yarrow, and angel root, a plant native to the dungeon that induces a mild sense of euphoria (a hallucinogen to certain species)
a small grove on the 4th floor that grows berries that are the main source of food for the fairies on the lower floor. some poachers have been known to try and catch fairies here, but they all mysteriously disappear...
on the 8th floor, there’s a huge cavern, encrusted in gold that’s said to be the lair of a now-passed dragon. this is a main attraction for tourists and dungeon guides known shortcuts to this cave, while others take a longer, more scenic and dramatic route to this area. some tourists can even chip off a piece of the gold, or try and engrave their names into the cave, but these often disappear, leaving the structure spotless and as pristine as it always was
