The mortal cup is missing. Once in the possession of the New York Institute, it is now in the hands of a man who’s hatred for the Downworld is very clear to all who know his name. The Clave are far from happy with this turn of events The intention was for the cup to be handed over to them and instead it has found it’s way into the hands of someone who they thought they’d taken down many years before. Due to this incident, a change was needed within the walls of the institute and rules needed to be adhered to. Cue Victor Aldertree; a man of action, who means business and will do whatever it takes in order to get answers. He will even goes as far as torturing Downworlders and forbid them to enter the Institute unless under the order of the Clave.
Shadowhunters lives haven’t became any easier due to this exchange of power. Clary Fray is not being allowed to go on missions and is being questioned about her father. Her loyalty and her involvement with the circle is being questioned. It appears to be clear that the new Head of the Institute is trying to get answers from all who know the red headed Shadowhunter and from all who have seen Valentine or had parents involved in the Circle. Even bystanders who are just doing their job are being scrutinized under new laws that the Clave have installed making tensions even higher and relationships even more strained than they already were.
With restraints, curfews and constant observation, there is a distinct feeling of the Clave clamping down and freedom being revoked. How will they react to these new notions? Does this mean there is a bigger threat on the way that they don’t know about? And will Downworlders end up being hunted under this new edict?

We’re happy to bring you our first plot drop here on the rp- The plot is loosely based around the first episode of the second season and is when Aldertree takes over as Head of the Institute. Please keep in mind that he is a playable character here in the rp, so please try to keep his characterization canon. Inquisitor Herondale arrives and wastes no time wresting control of the Institute. She’s been called in to interrogate Valentine. They have little to no luck. In a last ditch attempt to learn even a little bit of what he knows the Clave allows Jace and Clary to enter his cell and interrogate him. During this interrogation Valentine forces Jace to reveal that he and Clary are not, in fact related. They learn nothing from him however.
Isabelle is deep in the depths of her Yin Fen addiction. Desperate for her next fix she reached out to Raphael, whom rejects her. She turns to the streets asking, begging, for a vampire to bite her. She runs into less than reputable vampires and is nearly killed. She is saved by an unknown shadowhunter, Sebastian Verlac. He takes her back to his place where she falls off the face of the world and begins to recover.
In a bizarre turn of events the greater demon Azazel arrives in New York and decides to have a little bit of fun. Using his magic he forces Valentine and Magnus Bane to switch bodies. No matter how hard Magnus tries to convince his friends no one believes him. It isn’t until Valentine projects himself to Imogen revealing that everything Magnus has said is true. He reveals Jace is the lost Herondale heir and threatens to kill him if she doesn’t return Valentine to his body. She releases Magnus and he goes to his apartment where they conduct a spell to switch back. Desperate not to lose him again Clary tackles Valentine into a portal that takes him back to the Institute.
In the days after Valentine and Magnus’s body swap dead shadowhunters start popping up. Not only are they dead but their runes have been sliced from their bodies. Imogen demands all Downworlders be injected with tracking devices and DNA tested so the Clave can keep an eye on their whereabouts and solve the shadowhunter murders. The Downworlders react negatively and Jace only manages to tag one downworlder, Maia. Desperate to fix the rapidly deteriorating relations with the local Downworlders Alec wrests control of his Institute back from Imogen and immediately puts a stop to her plans. It is revealed the murder is a Seelie Knight hell bent on revenge for the death of her lover. She is captured and taken to the Seelie Court alive.
Alec’s plan to smooth over the last few days involved creating a council of Downoworlders where the leaders of each faction can come together and discuss major events. He hopes that it means the trust that was lost or damaged over the years can be healed over and they can start anew. Luke wants to kill Valentine himself and requests from the Clave that he get to do so. They deny him. Out of anger he attacks him anyways. Alec manages to stop them both and lets Luke off with a warning.
The Clave decides Valentine would be safer in Alicante and begin to make plans to move him there. Using his Circle connections Sebastian adjusts the destination of the portal and portals Valentine to an unknown location. The Clave has lost Valentine. Again. And there will be no keeping it under wraps this time. Unwilling to let him get away Jace and Clary go to retrieve him. They fail to find him and Clary is only just saved from hurting herself an Jace as a side effect from wallowing water from Lake Lyn. She has learned however that her original brother isn’t dead and immediately starts suspecting that he’s behind all of this. Back at the Institute Robert Lightwood reveals to his son that the Clave lost the soul sword in the battle for the Institute and have been lying to the Downworld about still having possession of it.
And here is our next plot drop! As always please try to stay as true to your characters as you can in these events. A lot has just happened! The plot drop is based on episodes 11 to 16 of season 2 of Shadowhunters. Players are welcome to post threads relating to any of these plot points. Just specify where in the timeline it takes place so no one gets confused! We’ve also accumulated some of the smaller plot developments below the cut so that everyone can be aware of everything that just happened. We know a lot just happened and if anyone has questions about where we are or what is happening don’t be afraid to ask us!
Sebastian reveals to Isabelle that he too was a Yin Fen addict once as she recovers. She’s the one who ‘convinces’ him it’s time he rejoins the shadowhunters at the Institute.
During his time in Valentine’s body Magnus was tortured by the agony rune. While he made it out in one piece it’s clear the event has left him deeply troubled.
The Seelie that was murdering Downworlders has been dealt with by the Queen. No one outside of her people know the details but many assume she was killed for her crimes.
It is revealed that Sebastian is not, in fact, Sebastian but no one outside of Jonathan knows this fact. Jonathon kills the original Sebastian after he manages to escape. No one outside of Sebastian knows this.
Sebastian has stolen Valentine away to a secluded cottage somewhere in Alicante. Where it is revealed his father tortured him and banished him to Edom when he wouldn’t do what Valentine needed him to do. It is out of a deep sense of hurt that Sebastian has decided he will banish both Valentine and the Soul Sword to Edom. Surprisingly Valentine charms Sebastian out of this plan and Sebastian opts to keep him around instead. No one outside of Sebastian and Valentine knows this.
Sebastian returns to the Institute and acts as if he is equally as revolted that the Clave managed to lose Valentine again. No one is suspicious of him.
After the attack at the Institute many people’s lives have taken a downward spiral, Alec Lightwood is trying to come to terms with the fact that he killed another Shadowhunter while under the possession of a demon. And hiis sister Isabelle Lightwood is struggling with her yin fen addiction, started by Victor Aldertree as a way to help heal her wound quickly. She’s been turning to Rapahel for her fix, but the vampire is wanting to help her rather than feed her addiction.
There has been revelations for Clary Fray, part of her angelic power is shining through in which she’s able to draw and create new runes which disappear just as quickly as they appear. She hasn’t told anyone other then Jace Wayland and an Iron Sister who turns out to be Luke Garroway’s sister. It was during this trip to the Iron Sisters that Clary and Isabelle discover more about the Soul Sword and why Valentine wants it in his possession.
The Soul Sword raises it’s head again as Jace and Clary free an angel from Valentine, it’s this angel that shares with them how to destroy the Soul Sword. Jace knows that it must be him who destroy’s it, but no one knows what the repercussions of this will be.
Despite all of this, Max is finally ready for his rune ceremony and for Magnus Bane to get on better terms with Alec’s parents he hosts a party that goes a little awry. People are giving into their fears which leads Jace to think that Maryse Lightwood wants to kill him and has Alec close to jumping from Magnus’ building. When they find out it’s a witch that has cursed them, she reveals to the group that Valentine wants Magnus’ book of counter spells and that he has her daughter as hostage. It is also during all of this that Simon Lewis finally get’s the courage to tell Clary how he feels about her.

Welcome to our third plot drop, as always please be realistic when it comes to actions and characterisation as we have some canon characters that have not been taken yet. This plot is based on Season 2, Episode 4 - 8 of Shadowhunters. After this drop players are more then welcome to play out plots up until SIMON BEING KIDNAPPED BY VALENTINE S02E09. I shall post some of the main plots that happen between this time under a read more if people are wanting ideas. There aren’t as many events happening in this plot drop as episode 10 is a big episode and will need a plot drop of itself and will probably turn into an event. Because of this, I promise it won’t be too long before I post it.
