4] If you love the world (1 John 2:15)
1 John 2:15 | Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in you.
IF you can’t let go of the evil world around you.
IF you’re characterized by PRIDE..
IF you’re motivated by SELFISH ambitions..
IF you love receiving glory for yourself, not bringing glory to GOD. IF your hope is in any of the things of this world, you are of the world not GOD.
IF what you talk about has nothing to do with GOD, it is telling of where your heart is. [Matthew 6:21]
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Men try to persuade themselves they will have a treasure on earth & a treasure in heaven also, but in the long-run, one or the other will assert its claim to be the treasure, & will claim the no longer divided allegiance of the heart.
This is what happened with Judas Iscariot. He was one of Jesus’ closest companions while on earth, yet slowly the division between this world & GOD will end. In Judas’s case, it was the love of money that won the day.
>> Don’t play around, it can be anything, fire will burn you [Proverbs 6:27]
LUST: For the levy of the prostitute is poverty, and the adulteress preys upon your very life. 27 Can a man embrace fire and his clothes not be burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without scorching his feet?
A further reason for laying up treasures in heaven: wherever they are they have a positive effect on the soul.
