Toast to World Malbec Day!🍷 Today commemorates the day, in 1953, when Argentinian president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento commissioned a French wine expert, Michel Aimé Pouget, to bring some new grape varieties from France to Argentina. It is pretty well accepted, although not as well known, that the French vine cuttings would have arrived first in Chile, before making their way over the Andes to Argentina.
