Interview: Colors featuring Price

__JANUARY EDITION 1 Yr 2__
I spoke with the Monarch and this is what he told me about them,
__1) Your title and position in the kingdom?__
I go by price, nothing fancy, just my last name  I'm the monarch of Colors!
__2) Background about colors ?__
Colors was founded back in the ... Age 70's ... ? I think ... as a new KD. Initially we have about 8 of us who all split off of an older warring KD. We went to recruiting in the lower KD ranks for active players that were interested in forming an organized, successful and competitive warring KD in the 22-man tier.
__3) What does this age mean to you ?__
This is our FIRST age in 25-man, over the past few ages we've had some players leave from the game all together and it forces us to go back to our pavement pounding roots to fill the KD. As you can imagine, taking a kingdom of mostly new faces over the past 2 ages to a 25-man level of warring is a daunting task, but we are excited to be 25 strong and looking forward to the challenge and the learning experience for all of our team.
__4) How was the war with WC, what would you do differently?__
The war with WC was very competitive. The opening wave of attacks was pure chaos of course, they took down two of our attackers and threw in a few hits on 2/3 of our rogue provinces, which shutdown any economy they had, but did end up making them stronger in the ops game moving forward. We took down 1 of their attackers and then had a few semi-chains of other high peasant provinces. The following waves were a dog fight of land trades with our side focusing on deep chains while our rogues focused on their 2 top enemy rogues who were bordering on UB status with propaganda. In the end, their best gains / shallower chains allowed them to gain a peasant advantage when coupled with the benediction ritual. We ended up withdrawing once we saw their top def provs begin to pack on further defense and their overall peasant count begin to snowball out of our FB and Kidnapping suppression. If I were to change anything ... it would be to take down those higher def provs earlier in the war before they were able to get out of reach. Hats off to WC for a well fought war, we'll be back and ready to rumble with many lessons learned in 4-5 days time.
It was a tough war indeed with Warcraft showing up on all fronts! According to colors they were having some issues with their new provinces who are not used to warring in the world of legends. Still a fantastic effort put forward by the Colors Leadership and withdraw could not have come at a better time for them!
Speaking of wars, they did have a Yr0 War as well, read more below!
**1) What is your kingdom and your position?**
So, our Kingdom is Colors, and I'm the Monarch and Founder, this is our first age as 25-man, so we were excited to have everyone showing up for waves and reporting for targets, etc
**2) How did you find your last war? (arranged or wave)**
I did not find my last war, my last war found me! I don't know if that's a good thing or not! :joy:
but they were a great opponent, and
**3) Who was your opponent and why did you pick them?**
We connected through the MUGA discord server, which has been a great addition for the community.
**4) When you run your wars, is it micro managed waves or do you have a preset plan?**
typically we have a plan going into the wave, but each hit is micromanaged by our target selection guys. We try to chain in NW order, but that does require everyone to be online and ready at a certain time, sometimes it pays off, sometimes the plan gets altered :)
**5) How did you feel about your attacker choices?**
we went with Undead/War Hero, as a young team, I wanted to keep our core a simple war machine, that would be easy to maintain and give us time to learn the war system that our council is implementing to a lot of newer faces back to the game.
**6) Did your TM choices compliment the attackers well this age?**
I think it's too early to tell. Having 4 heretics and 2 mystics with low runes in an OOP war definitely left us wanting more support from our mystics, but I think as the age progresses, we will get to see how the heretics can compliment the deep chains and attacker waves with their nightmare capability.
**7) What was the biggest issue your attackers faced?**
In this war? Dragons... we killed 5 dragons in 48hrs. Our attackers were relied on heavily for their defense and then for their offense to help kill the dragons, and it ended up costing us the war eventually.
**8) What was the biggest issue your TMs faced?**
Massacres. The enemy used massacres on our rogues and heretics scattered in with their semi-chains of our attackers on the second day of war. This was after council made the decision to sacrifice TM defense in favor of further attacker defense or offense. This left our TM vulnerable to attack and they wisely chose massacre, leaving our kidnapping of their large elves unsuccessful.
**9) What approach did you use on your waves? did it work?**
We would typically take their highest offense, or maybe 2-3 offense but a lot of peasants, and also had to have low incoming acres, and chain them to sub 100. It certainly worked.
**10) How did you plan to FINISH THEM off?**
We planned to continue to deep chain two of their high offense provinces with low incoming land to sub 100. By min-time we had most of their attacker squad under 5k def and 30k offense, the only thing still standing on their side were the 4 elves.
**11) Any honorable mentions to your kingdom mates who went above and beyond?**
Council and Steward @spoony for helping me lead the waves for 3 days straight, huge props.
**12) Is there anything you would change about the 'WAR' experience in Utopia?**
I would like the community ground to be more interactive in war. right now the only thing we have is the war forum, and it's a great first step. but we need to improve the community aspect if we want people to continue playing. maybe if there was a "War Hall" or something with a better name :joy: where both teams could go to see overall progress, comment on individual hits or ops that are public knowledge and talk trash and also get a bird's eye view of the war.
**13) Any final thoughts?**
Thank you for doing this for the community, I think the more stories members can share, the more utopia interest and knowledge share can grow.
Thank you Price for taking the time to show the Utopia community who Colors truly is! Thank you for your contribution to the community!
