A/N: yay another one. idk why this 700 word fanfic took me over 6 hours to write (maybe it was the multiple tetris breaks or phone calls i made in the middle of it) but its now 6AM, i've eaten a box of fruit snacks and have been drinking the same dr pepper but its done.
I was originally gonna request this from a fic author on tumblr that I adore ( @lucy-literates pls go check them out they're amazing) but I was bored and had nothing else to do so i wrote it myself instead of throwing the prompt idea onto my prompts blog, in my prompt doc aswell, and then requesting it. yay me!
MALACHI BARTON X FEM!READER Hate Posts:
It wasn’t unusual for Malachi to come across accounts dedicated to posting about him; he was a famous young actor, starring in a movie series that recently became even more popular than it already was. He saw new edits and videos talking about him every time he went scrolling through TikTok, but the hate page he just came across on his for you page was new.
The first pinned post on the account was about how he was too “overrated” and just another TikTok hot guy trend that would be replaced when the next hottest teen actor makes their debut. The second pinned post was another critique on his conventionally attractive, and somehow therefore “average”, appearance.
The more he scrolled through the account, the more intrigued he got. This clearly wasn’t some troll account made to ragebait him into interacting, it was well researched, put together arguments about how he’s just some guy that just so happens to be attractive. He wasn’t in many shows or movies, just a few disney projects that were well received, he’s still young, he’s made mistakes, and overall is a normal guy people idolise too much because he looks good.
He should be more upset about it than he is, demoralised by the pin point accurate malicious hate posts he’s reading in real time, but something about it solicited a different response in him; he was almost flattered.
A couple weeks went by, the account had made a couple new posts but nothing major and Malachi’s life going on as it normally did, the account barely lingering in the back of his mind. He’s too busy preparing for the second week of the Worlds collide tour in Phoenix Arizona to focus on almost anything else.
Almost. He can feel his phone vibrate in his pocket as he sits down, the first real break he’s gotten today. MK sits down next to him as he pulls his phone out to see the latest notification, and to check the other ones he’s gotten throughout the long few hours of prep he’s had.
The notification was the hate account. Malachi pressed the notification and turned the phone slightly towards MK.
“I have a hate account,” Mk turns to Malachi’s phone to see what he’s talking about as the video loads on the screen.
It was a video of a girl showing her outfit in the mirror with text over it that read “Fit to go hate watch the Worlds collide tour”. She was going to be here, watching him live tonight just to hate on him. True dedication.
The caption on the video was a little more of a lighter tone to it, contradicting the feel of the video. “I got VIP tickets to meet them because I love the rest of the cast and the movie itself, just not Malachi. I adore MK though <3”
“Are we going to meet your biggest hater today?” MK laughed and grabbed Malachi’s phone from him to look closer at the screen. “And she’s a fan of mine.”
“Give me that back,” Malachi snatched the phone back, turning it off and settling it back in his pocket. “Yes I guess we are, but it’s not like we’re really gonna notice her, there’s going to be thousands of other people there and probably hundreds with VIP tickets.”
“Yeah but we know what she’s going to be wearing and what she looks like right? so…” MK pauses for a second and turns to Malachi like he’s supposed to finish his sentence.
“So?”
“SO WE CAN TELL IT’S HER!”
“I guess but why would I care? She’s my biggest hater, not fan,” Malachi stands from his spot on the small couch they were sharing and walks over to the doorway “I’m gonna finish getting ready for the show now.”
He steps out into the main hallway, letting out a small sigh before pulling his phone back out and going to the video. Her hair was a long silky-soft looking texture, her eyes sparkled through the phone like stars, and her style was unique yet elegant in a way he couldn’t quite place; she was easily the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, and he was going to see her tonight.
The concert’s completely sold out, the seats packed with fans of Descendants and Zombies alike. Malachi for once isn’t nervous before their show; knowing there’s a person out there not expecting his absolute best becoming an odd comfort to him.
