"I cannot remember the characters names, but this scene at the end has haunted me forever. Basically, the rich people have these slaves who can't talk or anything. Main character girl is about to be made into one of these slaves. She's strapped into a chair and gagged, and then the main character boy's grandma starts explaining all the things they are going to do with her. They will insert "limiters" into her brain to basically lobotomize her. They will use this fine golden thread to sew her tongue down and to limit the movement of her joints. And once it's all done, the grandma will make the main character girl her "favorite," which means she won't feed her and will act sad as she slowly starves to death.

The whole explanation is so eerie and creepy and whumpy. Highly recommend it"
