What is your opinion on removing the strings?

Hello! Sorry for a slow reply! This is a very good question!

I personally am fine with stringless worms where the string has fallen off or broke if it’s own accord! This is because adding a new string or re-tying one on can damage a worms delicate snoot! So if the worm is happy stringless then it’s fine! You may just have to have a word with them about toning down the crime!

In terms of removing a healthy string that is tricker- I’d say if you are removing it for the welfare of the worm or if they want to be liberated then it is perfectly fine! Though if the worm is happy with the string and wants to have a string I’d go with what the worm wants above all else! Worm happiness is the number one priority!

Hello, I have a few questions. Do worms bite ( the owner or other worms ), where can you get multicolored worms, and are small bags ok to keep worms in??

Hello! Sorry for the delay! As far as I am aware worms do not bite as they do not have teeth like we do! (Though some reports say that some wild varieties have teeth which is interesting)!

A small bag would make an okay nesting area though I reckon it’s best to let them wiggle around during the day so they can investigate and go on worm adventures!

If you are unable to do that or your area is unsafe for worms then they are happy to live in drawers and other small storage spaces given they are allowed to come out and wiggle every so often! Also giving them objects to investigate will help!

Hello! Oh how lovely! Naming a worm is a very fun process!

I find it helps to try out a bunch of names and see which one fits the worms personality or they seem to like best!

hello! i just got my first worm, a purple friend i have named Dally, and i was wondering what advice you ask for first time worm owners? i know nothing about caring for my new friend properly

Hello! I am very sorry for such a late reply it’s all just been a lot lately! Very exciting news!

Dally is a lovely name for a lovely worm! Is Dally a solo worm? If so it might be worth considering getter them a friend or two as worms are very social creatures! Though if you are carrying them around and spending most of the day with them they could be okay!

Worms are fairly easy to look after and all they really need to be happy and healthy is love! Though it is worth getting them a nesting box, which can be as simple as old packaging or a bag so they have somewhere small and snuggly to sleep in!

Worms are also very curious creatures so take them around your home so they can examine and wiggle on various objects! I’d normally recommend worm walks for outdoor exploration, however given this time and circumstances it’s probably for the best to stay at home!

Hey!! I love your blog! And I have a very big family of worms, 80, and I love them all dearly. However, I have a dog who doesn't love them as much as I do, and have chewed off a few of their strings.. I've been keeping them in a small cardboard box together to avoid them being eaten, but I'm scared that my worms are unhappy. What should I do to improve their habitat and environment?

Hello! Oh my days thank you for your kind words! That’s so many marvellous worms! Incredible!

With such a big worm colony they should be very good at keeping each other company! Though it is always good to give your worms some extra stimulation! So perhaps when your lovely dog is distracted elsewhere you could put the box in the middle of a room to give them a chance to wiggle about if they want! You could also set up a worm walk router- though with that many worms you might have to just see who wants to go out on the fly!

Worms love exploring new things , so if you come across any interesting textures or objects, feel free to put it in the box with them so they can investigate! Just make sure your lovely dog isn’t also interested in said objects!

I wouldn’t worry about the worms who have lost their strings, so long as they seem content- replacing a string can be a risky business so, in my experience your best bet is to just let them wiggle free! (Though they may attempt to spread crime but in general worm crime is okay)

Unfortunately, my two worms are relegated to living in a dark secluded den surrounded by socks and pajama pants. They must remain there so they can be protected from two tenacious, stalking feline predators who hunt any source of string. Is there anything I can do to spice up their safe space?

Hello! Wild worms spend much of their life burrowing around underground so I don’t think they’ll mind the dark too much! Especially if the alternative is becoming a cat snack!

To keep them occupied it is probably worth giving them new toys and textures periodically for them to burrow in and examine! Plus giving them as much reign over the den as possible to stretch out and wiggle!

The next thing would be to take your worms out with you! So going on worm walks or finding new experiences should keep them happy and occupied! Plus should tire them out for snoozing in the den!

If you are very worried about the worms, you could consider expanding the family as worms are very social and good at keep each other happy! But if your two and doing swell and you are unable to obtain more worms then do not worry!

hello! i'm going to be a parent to 84 worms and I want to make an enclosure for them, but i'm not sure what would be best for them. do you have any tips?

Hello! That’s a lot of worms! Very exciting! Worms colonies are very chill so it’s really up to you- I find that having a nice nesting box is a good idea, kept in a room they have free reign over, for wiggling about in!

Though I have seen people create some uttterly marvellous worm houses with little furniture, so it’s really up to you and you worms in terms of what y’all want.

The main thing is just to keep giving them new textures/ move things around and change things up a bit to keep them occupied and curious! Though with that many I reckon they’ll be very good at entertaining each other and causing mischief!

I can thoroughly recommend worm walks/ fresh air where possible, though with that many you may need a worm rotor!
