to me ao3 is chronically ill and every time it goes down or something is like a flare up

ao3 status is the doctors in charge of their care

and tumblr has to hold the fort down so we (their children) aren't freaking out even though we 100% are

Coming onto tumblr and finding "the dangerous crow boy who eats plastic" and "guy juggling" at the same time confused me

although the crow boy confused me more i immediately got the juggling like hell yeah juggle time

im in etymology and we learned that vol- means wish or be willing in latin so i looked up -tron and its greek for instrument, tool

Lance is wishful hes willing to do a lot of things for the galaxy he wants a better universe hes a dreamer he wishes for things to get better and is willing to do what he can to make it so

keith is an instrument a tool he views himself as a larger part of the whole but not an essential part as evidenced by him leaving for the blade. he views himself as a tool for winning an instrument

not to mention that ones in latin and ones in greek and those are often mangled together in a lot of languages despite coming from two different languages

but keith doesnt get it and just says voltron a wishful, willing tool an instrument to defend the galaxy and the universe they are inseparable

Fuck "AI"

I'll say it a million times, and a million more.

I was sitting in a library working on a paper due in little over an hour, and the person next to me comments that usually they're against ai but when it gets to that point, they "chat gpt it" and i look them, dead in the eyes, and say "I would rather die."

I would rather fail an assignment or get accused of using ai by using a fucking hyphen- which I like to use all the time in my writing btw- than change how I write and exist as a human. Am I stubborn? Absolutely. Is it irrational? maybe. But as someone who is an artist, is a person, before anything else, I refuse for my identity to be reduced to another data entry for a generative ai model to train itself off of.

I wrote that when going through the intentionally convoluted steps that meta makes you take to request that they don't use your chats, photos, content to train their ai. How google, how microsoft, and all the other big corporations that are putting their eggs in ai, take every person on this planet that has a computer, that has ever written anything or looked up anything or done anything to train their generative ai programs.

Which isn't even ai by the way!

It's an algorithm that takes data and spits out a mangled mess of information that can give the right answer, sometimes. It doesn't think for itself, it doesn't hope or dream or love. I ask Alexa what it thinks of the current usage of ai in the world and all it replies is "I can't answer that." But, its favorite song is 'Respect' by Aretha Franklin! If the ai was ai, I would gladly teach it things and respect it, because it is sapient and deserves it. Maybe that's weird to say, but if something can think for itself, it deserves respect.

But "AI" isn't that!

I don't want or need a summary of the messages my friends send or the videos I watch. I don't want or need an ai image to make a specific thing for me, I CAN DO IT MYSELF! It won't be perfect, or exactly how I imagined it, but one day it will! Or one day I'll look back on it and agree that it gets the point across!

I know that these arguments, these comments and opinions have been said and repeated and screamed from hell and back. But I need to say it anyway. I need to scream with everyone else! I want the three people who consistently see my posts to know how I feel, I want future employers and friends and mutuals to scroll through my blog on this site and know how I feel. I want the people who watch what we type and say and post and use our lives and words for reposts and content, to know how I feel! I want my words engraved in the data set that it will eventually become a part of despite my protests and fighting to prevent that outcome. I want the ai that is built, the actual ai that is made off of us, to understand.

This may be "yet another post against ai", but it's mine. It's my words and my heart agreeing with people. I don't want to go to the store and have the art be AI-generated. I don't want to have to look closely at every image or video I see to make sure it's real! I just want things to be real. I want people to be part of everything and for them to be paid fairly for it. I want stock images of actual people doing weird shit for whatever reason, not ai. It's better that way, funnier. More fun. Whatever. Why is that so hard to understand for some people? What argument will need to be made for them to stop?

I just want it to stop.
