Bleak.
Bleak and soulless, a world seen in black and white from the eyes of royal. Darkness that billowed from the fountains and stretched skyward painting the world in darkness. A darkness as bleak as his soul, a darkness as bleak as the room, a darkness as bleak as his heart.
Here he was, working for a wolf in white fleece who called himself king. A terrible, volatile tyrant, a neglectful father and cruel man with a heart of stone. A man who struck fear into all around him. A creature orphaned by the light, with bones on his plate and blood on his hands.
And this was the man he had chosen to serve. This was the man he thought would see him as an exception, but not even the rules were spared. In fact, the rules were best bent and broken by him, subjugated to his harsh rule. It was he who held the winning hand, he who held the rules.
Who was it that monsters prayed to?
His hands shook at the thought of that question. Who was it that would be their savior? It seemed none would come...
Beady, slanted eyes framed with snow white lashes rested upon a bottle of poison used to kill pests in the castle.
What was truth? What was right? This man was his KING, Lancer's FATHER and yet all he could think of in that moment was how to end it all. How to end all of the tyranny, all of the suffering, how to wash away his tears, Lancer's tears...the tears of the others monsters.
If he were caught, he would be killed and he knew this, but his body acted without thinking. It was as if Rouxls had tunnel vision and only sought an end result. Someone had to do something, not even the other monarchy could deal with Spade but perhaps he could. Perhaps Rouxls could become the light for the monsters, the light for himself...the light for Lancer.
He dumped the poison in, watching it swirl sickeningly around in the tea as his stomach lurched from anxiety. He had always been a coward and he knew the consequences, but at the same time he was willing to take that chance.
"Art we alive or merely breathing? Perhaps I too am drowning in the darkness I became. It's too bad, really...Perhaps I wanted to see all that once was, my kinge."
