Day 18 —Take a reader behind the wheel with the worst driver you’ve ever known.

There are no traffic rules in Cairo. There's the unspoken communication that drivers have perfected, but actually following lights and driving orderly is something that just does not happen. 

On this particular day my sister, mother, uncle and I were going to visit my other uncle and his family. The drive is short, but we were running late and were rushed out of the apartment.

My uncle took the wheel and off we went. 

For all of the five minutes of the drive, my sister and I kept looking at each other with widened eyes. Our uncle seemed to have no regard for speed or speed bumps. The purpose of the latter, of course, is to slow down those who are going above the limit. However, if you drive like my uncle then you will just maintain your same speed and drive over the bump. I'm pretty sure at one point he accelerated before reaching the bump, which was not a fun experience.

From there it only got worse, as he took turns without checking the mirrors and constantly weaved in and out of traffic.

We had thought our 19 year old cousin was a more dangerous driver, that is until we got in the car with our uncle who drives like he is part of GTA.
