Okay I'm about to be a killjoy feminist hater about the PHM movie adaptation below the cut. youve been warned
My favorite character in the book by a LONG shot was Eva Stratt and the movie adaptation FUCKED HER OVER.
Eva was the largest female character and had some INTOXICATING stuff going on- she knew she was going to go to jail, she was a self-aware scapegoat, but she didn't care about any of that or how stone cold she had to be because she was saving the world, goddamnit. She did horrible things to that end, and she KNEW she was doing horrible things. She nuked antarctica. Who knows what else she was up to. She also had some hilarious scenes- banter with Grace and world leaders (and while she gets a few funny lines in the movie its nowhere near what it was like in the book), not to mention when she gets called into court for pirating the ENTIRE INTERNET only to show up, drop that she basically has permission to do ANY CRIME SHE WANTS, and leave. Which is not only funny but she also explained her political thought process after which actually made a lot of sense even to this layperson.
But in the movie? Barely anything! She's butchered as a character, and her relationship with Grace is reduced to hetslop imo. There was none of that romantic tension in the book, and it flattened her further if you asked me.
However, in the movie that role of Important Person Who Is Friends With Grace is, infact, filled! By Carl. A man. Which is fine, I love Carl he was GREAT. But, hmmm, incredibly important female character's place basically taken by a man? Why is that?
Not to mention the fact that the woman who developed the coma tech in the book was never even mentioned in the movie, the gene thing makes it seem like just anyone could go (so why didn't Stratt? In the book she was the FIRST ONE TESTED, because if she would sacrifice others of course she would sacrifice herself) and that they changed the nickname for the coma robot from the demeaning but feminine leaning Nannybot to the masculine Armando. Oh and how in the book the Russian woman was the funny one and Yao was the Stoic one and in the movie she got 0 personality traits and HE was the funny one. Why? What's the point??
he's an ethereal being of unfathomable power but also he's just a little guy in a trenchcoat with a stupid backwards tie and a heart of gold and i love him!
Moving to a new program at work apparently means that I need to get permissions activated to let me export data.
Last program just let me do it.
So I didn't know this was going to be an issue until today.
So I did like half the marketing report by hand. Bc like fuck I was going to ask an ai to do it.
Not to like Jinx it or anything, but like. 2026 might just be my year??
Only 5 days in and I've got my permit, an interview lined up, a possible job offer, and I'm workingmon driving lessons? Shit's going good so far!?
Knocking on wood though.
