have posted about this before but. so so weird to be an ‘og’ heated rivalry enjoyer. i say ‘og’ because i first read them in… 2022? ish? just after the release of the long game. so not legit og but close; well before the show was even announced as an adaption.

weird because it was pretty niche (like 500 works on ao3 i believe?) and they were just those hockey dudes who set the standard way too high for every other sports romance book i read afterwards, and then all of a sudden my mom is asking if i know this show called ‘heated rivalry’ because she knows i am very clued in with the gay television

a good example is had a friend tell me that months ago we were at a party and she asked what i was reading and i answered ‘this book about these gay hockey players; there’s a show adaptation being released soon that im really excited for!’ and it was november and the book was the long game
