The mere fact that this was more an explanation and less a lecture already had them somewhat relieved. It was just shocking how many trolls expected them to just… get it when it comes to cultural stuff. They were an alien after all! From a very different planet! But at least now they could maybe learn a bit. So MSPAR sat down cross legged, seeming to be listening very intently to Karkat. And really, they were! Sure, there was some zoning out in the middle, but they got the big stuff.
At least enough to know that their new possible friend? Enemy? Frienemy? Was most likely not hate flirting. And had in fact been trying to murder them in a pseudo flirty way. Maybe aggressively trying to move towards hate flirty...
So they nodded a bit, head tilting as they thought further on the idea of said quadrant. “It does. I think they might have just been trying to kill me then. Or they are a veeeery aggressive flirter. Either way, I don’t feel that way back so it’s a moot point.” MSPAR scratched their chin a bit, face looking pinched. “Actually I don’t know if I’ve ever felt like that. Like a hate but not hate hate. Rivalry hate... I don’t hate that many people at all.”
Honestly, it was a wonder that they survived this long on Alternia with such a penchant for walking headfirst into danger if it meant a new friend. Perhaps Kismesis was just not for them. Though perhaps knowing it’s a rivalry moreso would help…
“So. Now I just need to figure out how to tell them I’m not interested in things that way… but in just a friend way.” And with the newfound Guardian abilities, the reckless nature has only increased. Much to the dismay of many of the friends they already have.
