All Aboard the Ship to Guernsey!
Last weekend I went on my first visit to Guernsey and wasn’t disappointed. I got my return tickets from Last minute.com for £32, which worked out cheaper than a ticket to London!
We arrived at our local Port in Poole 40 minutes before departure as advised, and were quickly waved on board to our allocated window seats. The seats were standard but comfortable and the seating area’s appeared to be separated into family and couple zones which meant we had a peaceful journey. We were on board the ship for three hours, but for roughly £16 per person, you can’t complain!
When we took our first steps on the land of Guernsey we were immediately hit with a burst of heat and glorious sunshine reflecting on the sea-bed which made the Island even more beautiful. I was surprisingly disorientated, as although we were on an Island in the English Channel, it also felt as if we were in a European Country, enjoying a precious one-day Holiday.
Unfortunately, it worked out that we only had a three-hour gap on the Island before having to board the ship again to go back home, so we used what little time we had to explore the small portion of the Island by foot. We did a coastal walk heading towards Fermain Bay which I had heard is very beautiful, sadly we didn’t make it that far. Never the less we enjoyed some stunning views whilst soaking up the sun and indulging on the Islands large and glorious ‘Mr Soft’ ice creams!
Guernsey offers something for everyone and I would highly recommend a visit for anyone looking for a different day out. There are Bathing pools scattered along St Peters Port which is a great and safe place for cooling off on those more humid days. For those big spenders, Guernsey St Peters Port is packed with some quality shops and restaurants. Finally, for those looking to learn more about the History of Guernsey, there are plenty of Museums, Forts and Castles scattered around the Island.
My visit to Guernsey was surprisingly stress-free and plain sailing but I recommend arriving at the Port early both on arrival and departure in case of any unexpected delays and to ensure you’re seated and relaxed before the Journey.
I will definitely be visiting Guernsey again soon but next time I will stay over night and have a form of transport so that I can see more of the Island. wouldlovetogo again!

Beautiful walks across the UK
The weather in the UK might not be tropical but it’s fresh! Walking is a natural way to get fit and has so many benefits. Some of the benefits include;
Reducing body fat
Keeping you fit and healthy
A healthy brain
Reduces stress
Gives you time to think
Delivers energy and some well needed vitamin D
See what walks we recommend in your area.
London - Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park: A personal favourite of mine. Most people gather at the top of the hill by the Observatory to observe spectacular views of London however I recommend walking a little further to one tree hill where the views are just as beautiful but less crowded! While you’re there check out the Deer sanctuary or take a brisk walk around the pond. Don’t forget to take some nuts to feed the squirrels, but be warned, they like to climb.
Birmingham - Woodgate Valley Country Park
Escape with your thoughts at Woodgate Valley country park, a beautiful must see park for bird watchers and wildlife lovers. You can expect to see some of 90 species of birds including buzzards and swallows.
Manchester - Etherow Country Park
Perhaps the weather is nice and you’re looking for some fresh air and vitamin D. Pay a visit to Etherow Country Park, a beautiful tranquil walk surrounded by rivers, ponds and streams. The park has a visitor centre and café so stop to reenergise with a cup of tea and a cake.
Glasgow - Necropolis Cemetery
A cemetery isn’t somewhere we’d usually recommend visiting but Glasgow Necropolis isn’t just any cemetery, It’s one of the most iconic cemeteries in the whole of Europe and resting place to 50,000 people. Glasgow Necropolis offers a historic and beautiful day out, offering plenty of footpaths and stunning views of the city from the top of the hill.
