10 years of I Never Learn 🖤
Some music artists are just better when they're miserable, there is simply no denying that.
Twice the pain, the suffering
Oh my love is unrequited
Sadness is a blessing
Sadness is a pearl
Taking it back today to one of my 2011 obsessions, Lykke’s Li’s Wounded Rhymes. When this first came out, I could have sworn I read someone dub this album's genre as "Jonah pop," due to its echo-y, cavernous atmosphere sounding like what you'd get if you recorded inside the belly of a whale. Google searches yield no results for that though, so maybe it fell out of my own head. Either way, I've always associated that description with this record. I think it's particularly fitting with the album's final (and finest, imo) moment "Silent My Song." Just try and convince me she's not poking around whale innards on that one.
