With the average life span for an ostrich being 30-40 years. Ostriches have one of the largest eyes of any land animal, to protect them they have 3 eyelids, an upper, lower, and a sideways eyelid which is also known as the nictitating membrane. Poison frogs, like the Suriname Cobalt or Dyeing Poison Frog, are tadpole-toting parents! Beneath fallen leaf litter strewn across the forest floor of its tropical rainforest home, lie tiny white eggs, which parents protect and make sure they don’t dry out! After about 14 days, larvae hatch from the eggs and are visited by dad, allowing tadpoles to wriggle onto his back! He then carries his young to pools of water in tree holes or the axils of plants (phytotelms) where they will continue to grow. Male dyeing poison frogs can carry 1 to 3 tadpoles at a time! Tadpoles have a mostly carnivorous diet, so parents try and place them in different pools of water to prevent young from fighting over resources or from taking curious bites out of each other! There are over 2,400 described species, but many more exist and are waiting to be discovered! They come in a variety of shapes and colours and are masters of blending into their surroundings. Some resemble the bark from a tree or petals on a flower, while others mimic dead leaves blowing in the wind! One reason for their cryptic nature is that these predatory insects like to ambush their food. They will lie in wait for prey to venture within range. When they do, the mantid lunges forward and extends its raptorial arms, reinforced with muscles and sharp spines, in one speedy execution. Their warrior-like strike can happen in 30 to 50 one-thousandths of a second! That’s quicker than the blink of an eye! Mantises are known for their lighting fast front legs, but they can also be statue-like too! The strongly built caracal, widely distributed across Africa and southwestern Asia, inhabits open savanna, grassland, desert, and hilly countryside. Like many of its wild cat cousins, this feline is not a stranger to heights and can pounce with the best of them! Springy muscles found in the caracals long, powerful legs help facilitate explosive jumps that carry its body a vertical distance of 10 feet into the air! The caracal uses its creature power of mighty jump to catch prey in flight, like the dove or sandgrouse, or to leap onto much bigger prey, equally as springy, like the mountain reedbuck or springbok! Although the animal is a formidable hunter, the caracal still needs to watch its back against even bigger predators it shares its home range with, like the lion. When the medium-sized feline feels threatened the cat can enact instant camouflage by laying flat on the ground. The unpatterned tawny coat and pointed ears tipped in black tassels blend well with the tall, dry grasses or thick brush from its habitat. Keledai, Tuhan, dan Pemuda

Seorang filsuf Yunani pernah melontarkan suatu argumen:

Tuhan tentunya haruslah Maha Kuasa. Lantas, jika ingin membuktikan ketuhananannya tersebut, bisakah Ia menciptakan sebuah batu yang demikian beratnya sampai-sampai bahkan Ia sendiripun tak mampu mengangkatnya?

SOOO TRICKY. Tapi memang begitulah cara berpikir mereka. Menciptakan analogi yang sering di luar nalar mereka sendiri. Dan percaya atau tidak pemikiran-pemikiran seperti ini yang sering menguji keimanan kita. Sekali lagi, ini soal IMAN. Tentunya, percaya itu sangat berbeda dengan iman. Ketika kita sudah bilang beriman, kita mempercayai hal ghaib yang kita sendiripun belum pernah melihat, menyentuh, atau merasakannya.

Tapi tunggu dulu, sebagai pemuda kita layak berbangga lho. Karena julukan agent of change memang sudah melekat dari jaman para filsuf itu masih hidup. Ini salah satu kisahnya.

Suatu hari para filsuf sedang berkumpul beramai-ramai membicarakan suatu hal yang maha penting: jumlah gigi keledai. Perdebatan pun semakin alot

Ruccus: Menurut saya, jumlah gigi keledai itu haruslah ganjil yaitu 33

Caccus: Mana mungkin! Pasti genap, yang benar 32!

Pemuda: Bapak-bapak, di luar ada keledai sedang nganggur. Daripada debat kusir terus seperti ini, bagaimana kalau kita buka mulutnya lalu hitung jumlah giginya?

Keajaiban Dunia

Suatu hari di sebuah kelas ibu guru menyuruh murid-muridnya untuk menuliskan kejaiban dunia yang mereka ketahui. Segeralah mereka menuliskannya di selembar kertas, lalu dikumpulkan di meja sang guru. Jawaban mereka tentu saja bisa ditebak. Ada yang menjawab Borobudur, Eiffel, Ka’bah, ataupun Tembok Cina. Ternyata tinggal satu murid yang belum juga mengumpulkan kertasnya. Sang guru berjalan menuju mejanya dan menanyakan apa kesulitannya.

Dia hanya menggaruk kepalanya dan berkata, “Saya bingung bu, terlalu banyak. Sedangkan ibu hanya meminta salah satu.”

"Baiklah jika begitu coba beritahu ibu apa saja keajaiban dunia yang kamu tau."

"Bisa melihat, bisa mendengar, bisa berbicara, bisa mencintai, bisa dicintai...."
