Aftermath - Wraithmasters

Once Daniel had finished connecting another infusion bag to the IV in their arm, he reached up and pet their hair, trying to be careful without treating them like they were made of glass.
“Looks pretty bad, but luckily I think you’re on the mend now. Nothing new has popped up, healing pretty well on your own, and no signs of infection either.” It wasn’t a whole lot easier on his empathy to see them like this, but like Hell if he was going to avoid them while they were recovering.
A hand moved down to hold theirs, bring the unbroken arm up to his mouth as he met them half way, so they could feel him smiling a bit too. “If you do want to talk about the other stuff that’s bothering you, feel free, okay?”
“...I don’t wanna talk about it.” They mumbled, smile falling as they took their hand back.
They could almost pretend that the gauze around their face was a blindfold. That if they took it off everything would be the same as before. They could almost deny the empty feeling in their eye sockets, they could pretend like they hadn’t known exactly what was going to happen the moment that... thing grabbed them.
“...You think I’ll be able to get up again soon? I hate sitting still...”
