Family Information
As my MCs come from a huge blended family, five family names are going to be covered
The Orn Family
A very simple black background with a wolves head, the black representing heartache and the wolf representing survival and a fierce spirit.
Motto: Motto: "Sic semper evello mortem tyrannis," meaning, "Thus always I bring death to tyrants."
The Orn family is the oldest pureblooded family in Scandinavia, on par with the Guants in England, but without the violent anti-muggle rhetoric. They have been known to defend muggles, muggleborns, squibs, halfbloods, and creatures, sometimes violently. They're also far better than the Guants at not dying out, not losing their money, and not being severely inbred as they commonly married witches and wizards from less 'pure' bloodlines.
The Orns are generally a kindly family but not an overly warm or clingy one. For example, Rubin is considered an unusually affectionate Orn which is funny considering she doesn't come off that way to people who don't know her well.
They've had a great deal of tragedy in their family history due to their reputations as revolutionaries and outspokeness towards injustice. The family was nearly decimated by Death Eaters during the First Wizarding War and have similarly faced near extinction at the hands of muggles and purists all throughout their history.
The current members of the Orn family are 15, previously numbered 75 before the first Wizarding War. They are mostly located on the Faroe Islands and Denmark except for Rubin and her half brother Claus. Rubin lives in North Devon, England near her father's family and Claus lives in Yorkshire with his wife Edith and daughters Anja and Allison, both of whom attend Drumstrang.
Ames Family
They do not have a family crest but they do have a family motto: "We were, we are, we will be."
The Ames family was poor for most of their history (due to rejecting marriages from blood purists)and only become middle class in the 1800s when they invented and patented Equilibrium Potion. ."
They never tried to overcome people's opinions of them even after gaining wealth and were ahead of their time regarding the rights of squibs and werewolves. They are viewed by blood purists in the way the Weasley's are, basically white trash.
The family does have a problem with absentee adulterous fathers, hence Henry Ames.
Teague
The family was among the first to be sorted into Slytherin and have green and an adder on their crest in honor of this. The black is in memory of those that have died due to betraying the family.
Motto: "We were, we are, we will be"
Not one of the sacred 28 due to a technicality, their ancestors married the occasional mermaid/merman. it's rumored one Teague married a mermaid and was drowned by her for being unfaithful.
This is perhaps why the Teagues are well known as violent purebloods who will do anything to protect the purity of their family or hide their family history, even killing their own children if they expressed interest in anyone that isn't remotely pure. This has led to the family being close to extinction.
Circe is among the last 7 members of the Teague family still living and she, along with other 5 surviving members that are not her son Kit, are in Azkaban.
Drew/Edelwood
No crest but the Drew's have a motto: "Power is overrated."
The Wizarding Drew's are prone to having squibs and often develop magic late in life (the latest being 16 and the youngest being 12) . They are also notable for developing schools for squibs and late bloomers in Dingle, Ireland. Wednesday is adopted by Noal Drew. There is no crest.
The Edelwood family is an old Wizarding family in America. They immigrated from Ireland to America in the 1700s and have been, for the most part, located in Appalachia since the early 1800s. Number 9 on the list of the Pure Ten, one of the most pureblooded families in America, though they are not fully pureblooded and would be offended if someone said they were. In fact, no one on the list is completely pure, American wizards do not care about blood purity and if anyone is pure, it is a coincidence. No family crest or motto.
