30 Day Writblr Challenge | Day 3: Introduce your Main Wip

Hey Writblr!

Day three of the #chazzawrites challenge, and today we're supposed to introduce our Main wip. Although I like to prioritize my projects relatively equally, I do consider my main wip to be whatever one I'm procrastinating on by writing other projects :) :) :) :).

And that right now would be my novel The Proximate Cause of Broken Glass:

I'm thinking about dropping Proximate, as it's kind of pretentious and I'm not sure the detail will naturally intergrate into the story (Proximate Cause is a legal term for the party at fault). Here's a little more about it:

Genre: Magical realism contemporary, YA (?)

Status: First draft attempt #5

Literal Logline: Lemme just...run away from the emotional consequences of my own actions

Vibes:

-gay arson

-broken glass

-new england forest town

-cabins

-artists

Introducing...

So, what is Friday Night Fights?

Friday Night Fights is a friendly writing event, in which participants all respond to a writing prompt chosen on Monday, and reveal these stories to one another on Friday night. It began as a joking “competition” between a friend and I, continued to grow with many of our friends, and fizzled away as we all got busy. I’m hoping to revive it on a grander scale to include all of you!

How does it work?

Each Monday, I will announce the prompt for the week; it may be a recycled prompt or a new one, depending on how I’m feeling.

You can chop up and alter the prompts as you wish

You can write original or fan fiction

You can make it as short or as long as you’d like! (But, of course, be polite and use a read-more if it’s getting long!)

Post your finished story on Friday night of that week, and tag me!

Please use the tag #friday night fights and/or #fnf fill so I can better see your works! (My notes get very messy and busy, so this is another good way for me to see it!)

Please do not tag other participants who haven’t expressly asked to be tagged in your works! (I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable; some people just like to put out their work and not read others, or just a select few)

Please be kind to one another! This is all just for fun!

So, what do we win?

A sense of fun, community, and camaraderie! It’s not really a competition, but rather just a fun event I like to call a competition to make it sound a bit more ~intense~ I’ll be reblogging and reading as many stories as I can (but, given that I am incredibly busy this semester with work and school, I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone or participate myself each week) so however that may be an incentive? Again, it really is for fun!

The first FNF prompt will be announced on Monday, September 2nd! I hope to see all the wonderful stories you create!

30 Day Writblr Challenge Day 16 | What's more important to you: worldbuilding, characters, or plot?

Hey Writblr,

Day sixteen of the #chazzawrites challenge, and today's question is what is more important to you: worldbuilding, characters, or plot?

For me, definetly characters. Most of my stories start with an idea for the main character or a set of characters. It's also what I spend the most time prepping before I start writing, and what I pour the most of my energy into when drafting.

30 Day Writblr Challenge Day 14 | Have you ever been published?

Hey Writeblr! Day fourteen of the #chazzawrites challenge, today's question being: have you ever been published? I have, just very recently! My poem First Date was published in the latest issue of Red Bean Press, a magazine that publishes writblrs! Here's the link if you want to read it. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of pieces that are at a submittable stage and I don't have a lot of time to keep up with submissions, so I'm not going to really pick up the pace until after this school year ends. 30 Day Writblr Challenge Day 8 | Introduce a Secondary WIP

Hey Writblr,

Day eight of the #chazzawrites challenge! I had a lot of secondary wips to choose from, but I chose my less anthological project, my video game I'm Sorry This Happened.

This is a project I'm working on with my sister for the two of us to get a feel for creating games. This means this porject might not ever see the light of day, but I love it anyway and love talking about it.

Genre: Visual novel

Status: Rewriting

Literal Logline: How to not cure your girlfriend's depression (ghosts not included in purchase)

30 Day Writblr Challenge | Day 2: How Long Have You Been Writing?

Hey Writeblr!

Day two of the #chazzawrites challenge. Today is the question: how long have you been writing?

This question is always hard for me to answer, because it depends on how you define "writing". I know I've been "writing" since at least 7, as I have a picture of me with notebook in hand on a hike, but I didn't consider myself a serious writer until I was a freshman in high school.

Actually, this would be easier to put this on a timeline:

2009ish (age 7ish): Started writing

2012ish (age 9ish): My 4th grade class had a creative writing assignment based on a picture. I went absolutely overboard on this assignment and loved it.

2014 (age 13): My parents sent me to a writing day camp through a local university, and I absolutely fell in love with writing.

2014-2016 (ages 13-15): The Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction phase. I decline to comment further

November 2016 (age 14): My high school did a program around the NaNoWriMo Youth Program (it was awesome, local authors, a writing suite, etc). I wrote a horrible novel, but I again fell in love with writing original fiction, as I'd basically written only fanfiction for the last few years.

And the rest is history! I've added genres over the years, poetry in 2018, short fiction in 2019, screen and video games in 2020 respectively, but writing all the time all the same.

30 Day Writing Challenge Day 15 | Are you a plotter, a pantser, or somewhere in the middle?

Hey Writeblr, Day fifteen of the #chazzawrites challenge! Halfway there! Today's question is: are you a ploter, pantser, or somewhere in the middle? Honestly, I'm not sure. It depends on the genre or form of the project, and how unhinged I'm feeling. In the past, I've throughly plotted projects and done a disastrous NaNoWriMo with essentially only vibes. But generally speaking my process looks something like this: Video game: outline Poetry: just vibes Novels: a mix, kind of outlining as I go Short Story: mostly vibes, sometimes I write down a very loose scene order if I kind of know what I'm doing That's all I have today.
