Writeblr Awards: Incandescent

Incandescent-Creativity: “Launcher of a Thousand Ships” Award Get it? Because of the Pirate AU? ...I’ll show myself out now.

But in all seriousness, there is a legitimate reason why I chose this award for you. On one hand, I see how swiftly people fall in love with your characters. There’s something charming, endearing even, about each of them, albeit for different ways for every one of them. We want them to survive. We want them to thrive. We want them to win. Yes, I am personally a big ol’ fan of Beans, even if they’re not the baked kind. Yes, I think “Firepower” might be the best shipping name ever. Yes, I do ship myself with Dr. Agau and will remain forever thirsty for dat agua. But above all, I think people love your novel, your project, more than they love any of your characters together.

On the other hand, there’s this special quality I have noticed about your work, specifically when you asked people what they thought of you. I saw how many people your work inspired. I don’t think you’ve quite yet realized how your work has touched others so sincerely. I don’t know whether your work will ever reach the masses, reach the printing press, or even reach a publisher’s desk. Unlike Oeden, I am no prophet. But I do know one thing: you will have made it possible for others to produce their own masterpieces, regardless of how famous or anonymous your own becomes.

Lady Redshield: “Maestro” Award Whenever I think of your work, all I can hear is an orchestra in rehearsal. The cellists clean their strings, the pianist’s fingers flutter through sheet upon sheet of arrangements, the conductor raises her baton, and the entire audience sits in breathless anticipation. When you put a pen to paper, all the world waits without inhalation for what they are to read.

Your musicianship transcends through the performing arts and onto the pages of your writing. Each syllable is a note, each word a tune, each sentence a melody. The paragraphs form bars upon bars of harmonious symphonies that engage each and every sense known to man. The words flow like a lament, slow and soothing. And the audience sits entranced.

You, my friend, conduct the orchestra with each stroke of your quill - and it is all too willing to follow your lead. Do not hesitate. Do not doubt. You were born for this. You are a master of music and a maven of literature - the virtuoso of our age.

Writeblr Awards: Fatal

From the first second that I started to scroll through @fatal-blow‘s blog, I realized that I had found someone special on this site. Fatal proved to be of that rare breed of humanity that can not only create enchanting artwork but can weave a spell with words just as well. Those gifted in multiple facets of the creative realm can often intimidate others, and justly so. Sad to say that most multitalented people succumb to their pride and look down upon the rest of us peons subjected to only one creative lane. I feared the same would show itself in Fatal, and was pleasantly surprised that my trepidation was completely and utterly misplaced. Fatal and I formed the swiftest friendship solely through mutual interaction and authentic interest with one another and the work we were producing. It’s easy to talk about oneself, but to see someone else become invested in your stories, your characters, your worlds is a rare sight indeed. From the first interaction, I knew Fatal and I would be friends.

Dear Fatal: for being a master of the arts, a smith with words, and a genuinely good human being, I present to you the “Triple Threat” Award.

Award: “Skylar” Moodboard

So, you and I have discussed at length our deep, mutual love for empaths. It took me a long time to decide between doing a moodboard for Fergus or for Skylar, but mah boi kinda has my heart. I chose some common empath-style things, but you may be wondering “why the underwater picture?”. Well, do you remember how we talked about the differences between Sky and his dad? You mentioned that Sky feels everything with water descriptors - floods of frustration, a pool of calm, etc. and I felt like “drowning in emotion” was appropriate.

Award: “Take the Wheel” Award

My dear @cogwrites, your name has always struck a chord within me. At first, I thought it was simply appealing to my inner adoration for the steampunk genre. Over time, however, I have wondered if there was more to it than that. When I sat down to decide who would receive what award, I realized something - I finally knew why your name stirred something in me!

A cog is one portion of the machine, but not the entire entity itself. One cog can help the wheel to turn, but it is, in and of itself, only a player behind-the-scenes and not the performer standing centerstage. How odd, I thought, to name yourself that when you deserve to stand in the spotlight. I think I understand it now, though: you are a cog in other people’s masterpieces. Your encouragement, your inspiration, your own work might be the last piece they needed to put the pen to paper. But there’s more to it than that. You might provide the cogs in others’ wheels, but you are not a mere cog in your own wheel. No, my friend - you are the wheel itself. Take hold of that wheel, and do not let it go. Do not undersell yourself, your worth, your work. People need to see where you steer them. People want to follow where your wheel will lead them. Take the wheel, my friend. The world is waiting...

Writeblr Awards

Hello, homesteaders! Some of you may remember that our community’s ever-kindhearted @prycarious once published a list of ridiculously specific writer-related awards to all of us here on Tumblr. From the moment I first read that post, I knew that I wanted to do one of my own, to make this a trend that extends across the entire writeblr community. Now, having reached 1,000+ followers, I decided to make this desire into a reality.

However, instead of one solitary post, I decided to be an overachiever. For an indefinite amount of time, I will be releasing post after post of “awards” dedicated to those who have inspired and encouraged me here on this site. Some of the awards will be silly inside jokes. Others will be heartfelt paragraphs. Some might have special surprises attached to them. Whatever the case may be, know that these come from the depths of my heart to each and every person I have chosen to honor. This is my love letter to you.

To everyone who receives an award - I love you and your work so very deeply. If you do not receive an award, don’t you worry! There will be plenty more in the future. Perhaps I don’t know you or your work well enough yet! These awards were not distributed willy-nilly. I knew I needed to choose those whom I could give sincere accolades to instead of fabricating appreciation.
