What does your character look like?

What is your characters…

Hair color? Hair texture? Curl type? Hair length? Hair style? Height? Weight? Body Shape? Clothing size? Bra Size? Clothing style? Shoe size? Nose shape? Nose size? Eye shape? Eye color? Size?

Skin tone? Skin Shade? Undertones? Face shape? Mouth shape? Do their ears stick out? Do they have a visible disability? Do they have crutches? A Wheelchair? A Cane? A prosthetic limb? Or other items?

You don’t have to address all of these questions in a story.

Describe your characters most prominent features or address the features you want your readers to know. If you were to describe a friend to a stranger, you would probably pick just a few features so that stranger gets a good idea of how your friend looks. It’s like that.

Think about which features you point out. If you introduce a character by their bra size or shoe size, would that come off natural? Unless the attention is already drawn to the character’s feet, for example, telling the reader about the characters shoe size might not be needed.

Remember: Make it natural.

Stand up and stretch. Brush your teeth. Splash water on your face. Walk around. Take a minute to breathe. Take a nap. Look through a magazine. Eat a snack. Drink some water. Change your clothes. Watch some TV. Color. Draw. Do origami. Do anything!

Inspiration will come! Stay Positive!
