things i have to remind myself (writer edition)

writing doesn’t get easier.

sometimes you have to write for the sake of writing.

plot should be allowed to change.

the story in your mind will never perfectly translate into text and that’s okay.

characters change, they’re supposed to change.

you’re supposed to enjoy what you write.

educate yourself about the different cultures you write about.

your friends shouldn’t be your critics.

the side character you love so much? sometimes they need to be cut from the story.

write what you want to read and not what you think people want to read.

there is no age limit in publishing, you have all the time in the world.

not every idea will grow into a story, sometimes you need to let go.

love your story, because it will be just the two of you for a while.

it’s okay to not write every day, that doesn’t make you less of a writer.

since my writing blog was tagged, i’m gonna do something writing related:

i still have a copy of the very first poem i wrote - which was an assignment in fourth grade. I wasn’t allowed to watch the halloween specials until it was finished but i found I didn’t mind that because i realized i enjoyed writing the poems.

it was about  - drum roll please - Ferrets.

I haven't really talked much about it, but I've been dealing with major writer's block since the summer.

Not a lot has changed (in terms of the circumstances that led to my current block), but hopefully the start of a new year will help me break out of it. And with that, maybe being a little more consistent in sharing my works here (hence, this fun post).

Regardless, thank you to anyone who has read/supported my works in 2025! Here's to 2026 and all the random fics I hope to crank out this year!
