50. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Oh man, this is hard to decide on!
Okay, GUSHING! I love the support in the world of fanfiction! I’ve found that no matter how much I think a piece of writing is crap and I’m a fraud and blah blah all that negative self talk that as a creator you have to ignore, that even when I think like that there’s always at least one person who comments like “I LOVED THIS PLS WRITE MOAR????” and that feels so so amazing, and even when I look at other writers who might get more kudos/notes/comments/whatever than me and feel bad and like “WHY CAN’T I BE AS GOOD AS THEM????” I can totally always remember “hey there’s at least a few people who like my stuff so much they told me about it and that’s enough for me” and like, these people like other people’s stuff and also go comment on their stuff and make those other people feel this same way??? Like it’s great, and to me it’s this huge positivity spreading thing that encourages people to be creators, cause let’s face it, most people are way more likely to post their stuff if they think people might actually like it. If a person posts a story and gets a positive reaction they’re always gonna be more likely to post another and maybe even another and fill the world with free, entertaining content that a lot of times involves my favorite ships getting together and being happy and like, that’s definitely a good thing in my eyes.
And I know this was an or situation but I’m gonna do a mini rant and say that the flip side to the positivity is that there can occasionally be some serious negativity in fanfiction. I’ve seen people attack other people over the shit they write, or tell them they’re awful, or even in some instances tell people they should go kill themselves because the writer writes a thing they don’t like and like that’s not okay. And anyone who thinks it’s okay to shit all over other people for what they write/how they write/the quality of their writing needs to take a huge step back and reevaluate their life choices and idk, go pet a puppy and try to be a happier, better person.
