don’t love the way you approached this topic, but i’m glad it came up.

i am very aware of the allegations that heeseung/another enhypen member was heard singing the n-word in a song off-camera, and how belift is handling it (and by handling it, i mean doing nothing). i just don’t believe in cancel culture and it’s toxic implications, and would rather try to help educate idols and hold companies accountable for the content they put out instead.

i am currently on a camping trip through america so i don’t always have mobile connection and i only go on my phone once or twice a day, and mostly on tumblr where nobody was discussing the issue so i only heard about it i think two days ago

ever since i found out, i have been emailing belift with the template that can be found here (credit to @/black_engenes on twitter) to hold the members accountable, make a statement, and take down the malicious and racist comments that some non-black engenes are publicly making on weverse.

if a member said the n-word then they should learn their lesson and do better. many black and non-black people said they heard them say it, but many black and non-black people also said that they don’t think they said it. i am not black so i won’t make a statement about what i think (because it’s not about me and my opinion doesn’t matter) but i will do my best to support black engeges through this time

it’s important for non-black engenes such as myself to speak up while they are being bullied, threatened, and silenced by the more toxic part of the engene fandom. it’s not about whether or not someone said it anymore, it’s about black people being bullied and targeted online by “fans”

to me, supporting black engenes who are being bullied and harmed deserve more attention and care than “protecting my faves”, and i’m not going to waste time spreading hate/cancel culture when there are other people who need my voice far more right now.

so no, i’m not “posting as if a member didn’t say the n-word”, i’m trying to do my best to keep them and their company accountable without supporting the notion that a mistake should ruin someone’s career/life. however, that doesn’t change the fact that i think enhypen/belift should make a statement and apologise if they are in the wrong.

i’m not claiming that i’m perfect and being the best advocate in the world, but i’m trying my best and if anyone knows any other ways i can help then i would love to when i have time/mobile data during my trip!!

also this isn’t me but this person said everything i feel very well (aside from that they think nobody said the slur, idk and i don’t care about that tbh)
