Shrimpy gang, how do we feel about 7 choices? Because I initially drafted as much with a honest intention of scraping away a couple, but now I like each of them and also I'm intrigued what will be the winning one between all of them?

I'm in redacting stage, and I'm quite secure in liking what I wrote. Aside from a few little bits I still need to cross-reference with the previous parts, it's mostly ready.

Also got some few ideas for possible side dishes in the near future, but we'll see. Maybe I won't. Maybe they are truly needed.

Honestly, it's so frustrating seeing a comment that is trying to guilt me into speeding up my writing. I absolutely love seeing sweetly or jokingly impatient comments asking for more parts to a story. I think they're hilarious! And I totally get it, but at least some of you add a - "please take all the time you need" or something along those lines.

But seeing "it hasn't been updated in a year. What a waste." is so disgusting.

I love writing long and elaborate stories.

I adore creating characters and fun scenes for others to read and share in my giddiness over making fictional creatures kiss fictional versions of ourselves.

But I do this for free! So much of this, is done in my own time and for free! And some people have the nerve to act as if they own me or my writing? And then get pissy when I remind them that this is a hobby and I do this at my pace.. You get it when you get it. I'm sorry but that's the way it is.

I love you all so much because you're all so supportive and sweet and fun to write for. But some really need a reality check. I am not a machine. I am home-growing these stories and sometimes the fields aren't growing.

And your "AI can do this quicker" or "it's been so long, you're just lazy" is disgusting.

genuinely have so much respect for authors that write more than 20k words fics; like, how do you find the energy?? what do you smoke to have such creativity? I finally have a fic of my own that just barely brushes over 21k and I have no clue how I did that

So, I've been writing fic for over ten years now (wow I feel old) and lately I have noticed an influx of people in my comment section who don't know what the fuck a plot is.

so I figured I'd kinda aggressively explain it because I'm slowly losing my mind lol.

A plot is the goddamn story itself. Plot is quit literally teh sequence of events that happen from the beginning of the story to the end that creates a narrative to push the story forward. Every minute detail, the prologue, the insignificant details like going to the grocery store or getting to know another character, that's all plot.

Plot is NOT just the action of the story. Plot is not when the story is "getting good" or getting more action-y or whatever else. That's the climax and falling action of your fucking story.

Pretty much all stories (although not all) have the same fucking set up.

This is our friend, we will call him plot mountain.

The exposition is setting the scene, the rising action is building the tension, the climax is when the big problem finally shows up, like the villain has revealed himself, this is the high point of the fucking story. Then the falling action is when the characters start to fix things. they defeat the villain, they save the girl, they solve the issue. Then the resolution, this is the happily ever after. The day is saved, everyone is okay, they lived happily ever after, whatever else.

BUT GUESS FUCKING WHAT!! THAT'S ALL PLOT. EVERY SINGLE PART OF THAT IS PLOT. When you comment on chapter 20 of a story and you're like "Oh hell yeah the plot is finally here" you're talking about the climax or the falling action you're not talking about the plot.

This is just me ranting a bit, but I hope to god that this helps someone lol. Because good lord, i get so many comments about the story is finally getting to the "plot" or that the "plot is finally happening" and that's not at all what is happening. You're just reaching the climax of the story lol. They are two different things.

Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted talk. TLDR Plot is the entirety of your story, not just the juicy parts/exciting parts.

TW for actual irl depression and suicidal thoughts discussions (not explicit). This is about me (sorry).

Three years ago, I quit writing completely. Like genuinely wanted to vomit instead of use my brain to word. It put me in deeeeep depression because I felt like I wasn’t myself. I felt separated from half of my soul honestly. I even struggled with suicidal thoughts because I was so disconnected. It scared me quite honestly how disassociated I was simply because I didn’t write.

I don’t want to point fingers, because a lot of it was my stupid little brain. But I’ve been writing fanfic since I was 13 and I’m 25 now. People engaging is what made me thrive. It’s the reason why I got a degree in English and Creative Writing. Back 3 years ago, people stopped engaging and it crushed me. I felt like I put so much heart into my works and no one acknowledged it. I felt maybe I was writing too poetically or just wasn’t interesting enough. I tried so many different fandoms and not a single one landed.

So I quit. Literally left all my unfinished works and just dipped the fuck out. Which is a shame because I had a lot of ideas that will never be on page.

And then back in March, I got a little happy juice all of the sudden, and I decided to start writing for the cod fandom. The one place I never tried, and I’ve been in the fandom since 2007. I have felt so loved since then, and I even cry to my mom because I feel like my soul is back together. All of you people that have followed my little brainworms have made me excited to open a blank document and write again. I started working on poetry again because of it.

So thank you for your support. I’m not the most followed one out there, but I love my little community 🥺
