April, May & June 2018 Writing Report
Spring 2018 Writing Goals: How did I do?
April Word Count: 18893 Daily Average: 630 # of Days I Wrote: 15 Pieces Worked On: 17 Pieces Published: 2 April’s writing goals:
Unshakable Duty Chapter 5 posted - INCOMPLETE
Draft 3 chapters of Unshakable Duty - INCOMPLETE
Draft 3 other fics - INCOMPLETE
Revise and post on fic in my editing pile - INCOMPLETE
Catch up on the fics in my Marked for Later file - COMPLETE - This I did manage to get to, though I think it mostly happened in May. Of course, now I’m back up to a not-inconsequential amount of fic in there.
May Word Count: 110 Daily Average: 4 # of Days I Wrote: 1 Pieces Worked On: 1 Pieces Published: 0
June Word Count: 14,961 Daily Average: 561 # of Days I Wrote: 18 Pieces Worked On: 9 Pieces Published: 0
This spring has been a little wonky for me. I’ve been struggling with my artist whose feeling neglected. I’m wavering between this desire to explore new things and the rational realization that I need to finish things. I’m also battling with the self that wants to just keep writing fanfiction and the side that wants to start more than dreaming about my own stories.
I’ve brought reading back into my world as more of a regular than sporadic thing. I’m enjoying it immensely. It is giving me a chance to really explore other writing tools beyond the ones I’m most comfortable with. I’m also watching Brandon Sanderson’s writing lectures while I’m at work. It usually takes me a day or more to get through one, but it is a great way to fill the 30-40 second gaps in calls.
I haven’t set writing goals for myself in months, at least not beyond creating task lists that usually end up going undone. But I have decided that I need to start finishing things. And that is going to be my main focus for the rest of the year. Sure, I’ll still allow myself to write little drabbles here and there and even edit some old things in my draft files to get them posted as well, but I’m mainly going to focus on the novel length WIPs I have still looming right now, including one that I worked on as part of Nanowrimo last year that has expanded a bit.
Goals for July 2018
This month I’m starting my focus on finishing the unfinished.
July’s writing goals:
Work toward the complete draft of the remaining chapters of Unshakable Duty
Work on the submitted suggestions for the July 2018 Writing Challenge: 250 Erotic Prompts
Catch up on Betas
Complete at least 1 Beta a week from the Big Re-Beta Project
Read at least 30 minutes every day for pleasure
So, I’m still on the job hunt. I’m still working out regularly. Progressing on the 100 Squats for 30 challenge that @goddesstiera inspired me to jump onto. I’m trying to schedule in reading time and writing time into my day, though I’m bad at saying this time to this time are those times. I just try to fit it in. I’d like to get to the point where I can say this time to this time are for sure for this single purpose.

March 2018 Writing Report
March 2018 Writing Goals: How did I do?
February Word Count: 14,050 Daily Average: 453 # of Days I Wrote: 8 Pieces Worked On: 12 Pieces Published: 7
MEBB 2018 - INCOMPLETE I dropped out of this one. I wanted to focus my attention
Unshakable Duty Drafts - PROGRESS I have drafted through the 6th chapter
Unshakable Duty Ch 3 posted - COMPLETE
Make Mine March Challenge - COMPLETE I wrote and posted Games the Mouse Plays
I got through a 3-book series, which was kind of awesome. I’m also halfway through the World of Thedas. I posted a few chapters of Unshakable and got another one written. I also managed to work on a few other fics and write a few drabbles. It was a pretty good month, all told.
Goals for April 2018
This month my shift at work is changing and I have some other worries that will steal some of my attention and focus. But I am hoping to continue moving forward as best I can.
April’s writing goals:
Unshakable Duty Chapter 5 posted
Draft 3 chapters of Unshakable Duty
Draft 3 other fics
Revise and post on fic in my editing pile
Catch up on the fics in my Marked for Later file
I’m trying to split my time and attention between reading for fun, reading for work, writing. I’m also hoping the change in my schedule will allow time for some other things, like getting back to the gym and maybe some painting and gaming.
February 2018 Writing Report
February 2018 Writing Goals: How did I do?
February Word Count: 4,877 Daily Average: 174 # of Days I Wrote: 8 Pieces Worked On: 6 Pieces Published: 3
I had a lot of tiny goals, which I think helped (along with the health weirdness I had this month) to overwhelm me and totally shut down my creativity. I’m just going to summarize my progress this month rather than marking each thing that did and did not get done, if only because the list is so long. I did finish my SpecRecs assignment and about 5 treats.
So, while that was a bit off my goals, both the ones that I posted and some that I did not ... it was not a complete failure. I finished my most important tasks. And for me that’s the big victory of this month in all candor.
Also, I did read a book and a half this month and some fics.
Goals for March 2018
So, I kind of feel like I’m starting over here, because in January I really let writing take over. Like sincerely take over everything. Then February was a writing desert. I’m going to try and take a more egalitarian approach in how I spend my time. Kind of try to exert some discipline over how I spend my time and energy so that I can feel like I’ve accomplished things and still feel like I’ve enjoyed my days.
March’s writing goals:
MEBB 2018
Unshakable Duty Drafts
Unshakable Duty Ch 3 posted
Make Mine March Challenge
I realize this is a long and involved list, but I’m hopeful.
January 2018 Writing Report
January 2018 Writing Goals: How did I do?
January Word Count: 48,840 Daily Average: 1,575 # of Days I Wrote: 29 Pieces Worked On: 18 (Not counting the NDC Edits I did) Pieces Published: 9 (Also not counting the NDC Posts I made)
I only had one goal, but it is a weighty goal.
Finish up my Holiday Harbinger gift - COMPLETED
Finally write a piece to go with @bethadastra‘s No Crying Over Spilled Whiskey art from Spec Reqs 2017 - INCOMPLETE Still haven’t gotten around to this. I think the next time an idea strikes for this I either need to jot it down immediately or outline it on the spot. No more percolating for this one.
Sign up for Spec Reqs 2018 - COMPLETED
Flesh out MEBB 2018 Idea and outline - PARTIALLY COMPLETED I changed the idea in the last few days. So I don’t have anything more than the idea for it. Need to flesh out the outline.
Work on Unshakable Duty (ideally, have a first draft of the full piece by the end of the month) - PARTIALLY COMPLETED I wrote four chapters this month. Posted one of them. The others have been betaed and I’m working on finalizing the drafts.
Finish posting all the NDC fic to AO3 (there are 12 left) - COMPLETED
Write at least one chapter for A Templar’s Promise - INCOMPLETE Sadly, I did not make this goal. I allowed a million other projects to drawn my brain in dozens of different directions this month. Need to exercise a little more focus and discipline this month.
Work on the line edit of First Watch of the Night to reacquaint myself with that fic and get back in touch with the characters - INCOMPLETE Again, another project I barely touched. I’m calling this incomplete because I really did next to nothing with this beastly project. Though I really need to exercise more discipline next month.
Finish up Beta for @ladyamesindy - COMPLETED I’m caught up with this for now. Yay! I was feeling like I was letting her down.
Goals for February 2018
So, by the numbers, January was amazing. Of course, a sizeable portion of the fic I finished this month is intended for SpecReqs, so it won’t get posted until February. And this month I’m probably going to divvy my time between SpecReqs, Leather & Lace, and Friendship February. So I’m not sure if my larger projects will see much time.
Without further ado, this month’s writing goals:
Write at least 500 words per day, every day
Write 2 chapters of Unshakable Duty
Final and Post Unshakable Duty, Chapter 3
Flesh out MEBB 2018 Idea and outline
Write at least one chapter for A Templar’s Promise

December 2017 Writing Report
December 2017 Writing Goals: How did I do?
December Word Count: 35,820 Daily Average: 1,155 # of Days I Wrote: 24 Pieces Worked On: 17 (Not counting the NDC Edits I did) Pieces Published: 11
I only had one goal, but it is a weighty goal.
Ideally, Complete the First Draft for A Templar’s Promise - INCOMPLETE (I didn’t even touch this piece this month)
Write holiday fics, currently number 4, may increase. - COMPLETE (It actually wound up being like 8, I think)
Prep for Leather & Lace Event (February 2018) - INCOMPLETE
Finalize 2018 Writing Goals - COMPLETE (I’ll be sharing these in a different post)
Revise 2018 Writing Plan - COMPLETE (Again, I’ll be sharing this in another post. I also broke down and made it digital because I’m nearly certain it will be rather malleable.)
Goals for January 2018
Honestly, I’m not sure how January is going to work for me writing wise. I’m honestly feeling a little drained right now from being sick for nearly two weeks, but given that I work in a cesspool, I imagine that I’ll be dealing with this for a while. So I might as well get used to it.
Despite this, I do have some writing plans for this month.
Finish up my Holiday Harbinger gift
Finally write a piece to go with @bethadastra‘s No Crying Over Spilled Whiskey art from Spec Reqs 2017
Sign up for Spec Reqs 2018
Flesh out MEBB 2018 Idea and outline
Work on Unshakable Duty (ideally, have a first draft of the full piece by the end of the month)
Finish posting all the NDC fic to AO3 (there are 12 left)
Write at least one chapter for A Templar’s Promise
Work on the line edit of First Watch of the Night to reacquaint myself with that fic and get back in touch with the characters
Finish up Beta for @ladyamesindy
I might be overzealous in my list here, but honestly this month my motto is progress, not perfection. Of course, it’s usually that. I just want to try and accomplish as much of this as possible. I’m hoping I can keep focus in order to accomplish it.
