Dog rescues Magpie after she injured her wing and together they live a peaceful and harmonious life. That is until one day the sneaky Fox arrives. Envious of their friendship, Fox convinces Magpie to go for a ride on his back, assuring her it will remind her of being able to fly. Poor Magpie eventually gets persuaded. My colleagues recommended this book for helping students develop big ideas about multiple characters at once and tracking those ideas across the text.
